During my daily meditation I began to wonder, will Chastity ever be seen as more normal and less fetish?

It is a rather wild act if you think about it. Locking up your sex organ and giving control of it to someone else.

    But think about it.

Most Chastity is done by a Male and the Key Holder is usually a Female.

Then I began to wonder, is Chastity talked about in hushed tones because it's considered Kink?

    Or

Is it because it is a Male centered act in which Women have complete power and control over Men?

In other words, is Chasitiy not talked about because in most instances Males are giving up their power and control to a Women. It is an act in which Women are in charge and the Men are seen as secondary. A complete role reversal as it were.

I am interested in everyone thoughts on this.

    Iso.

The reason I first got into chastity is because I think the penis looks better caged. I like the feeling. I've never been into the sph and total submission, so I guess my taste is a bit vanilla. I wish it was something I could openly talk about casually. I've seen memes here and there, mentions of chastity i news. I think it's getting more popular but breaking into mainstream will be difficult.

The first time I saw chastity was not long after the CB2000 came out. I was at a CFnm party. The host was wearing one that his mistress had him in.

I thought it was really odd and he was crazy for “letting” her make him wear it. I was new to the lifestyle and there wasn’t much information out there. In fact the internet was still fairly new and was developing so nothing useful.

That said, like many kinks something about seeking his manhood taken away grew on me. I guess that and thoughts of medieval chastity grew on me. Anyway I eventually bought one a few months later and have had it grow on me since.

I tell this as along the way I’ve seen male chastity grow from an unknown kink to something big enough that the Chinese have entered the market. Meaning there is enough interest for mass production and marketing. It may not be mainstream but enough people are buying them that many are being made.

Also keep in mind that it’s not just hetrosexual couples and “straight guys” interested in this. The gay bdsm community also has a huge interest in this. So while it’s not so common that ads appear on daytime TV I would say that it’s possible that it could happen in the next decade. (I’d give it 50/50 odds).

I agree as it becomes less of a fetish and more of a relationship item it will grow more rapidly. As more FLR relationships become like what Ms Lucy has described more women will become interested and share with their friends. More men will be accepting and FLR and chastity will explode. Hence why I think in the next decade mainstream ads are a big possibility.

I will say that anyone who wants to promote male chastity should share this with others. Not in a shocking way, but in an appropriate one. Most of my close female friends know, and many of my kinky male friends know. And I’ve had several interesting conversations, all factual and helpful in raising awareness. Ones I’m glad to do to not have to hide my kinks ans lifestyle.

So as more folks are open and honest about this, folks like me can become even more open and and the cycle expands.

Now that’s a long way to say no it will never be the dominant social norm. But yes male chastity will become much more common and yes it will be mainstream and accepted the way gay marriage and other nontraditional relationships are becom8ng mainstream.

Don't believe it will become main stream I just believe there are to many alpha males who might want to give into being locked in chastity. But being able to discuss it with other alpha males over a cold beer. Just don't see it happening. I'm an alpha male and my Mistress property is hers and controlled by her. I'm happy with being caged by her and being teased and tormented by her and serving her every need. Knowing I serve to please and pleasure my Mistress. At this point in this changing world I just don't see chastity becoming more mainstream. Maybe it will happen but for now I don't think the world is ready for that. Just my opinion.

We have been doing chastity for years and moved into the lifestyle as an extension of another kink, bdsm. There are several other like minded couples we associate with, but we are outnumbered by the vanilla lifestyle people. They may be great in bed and have very active sex lives, but the extent of their kink might rough sex and dress up playing.

We enjoyed swinging and loved meeting other people but then was really turned on by bdsm. Chastity was incorporated into our bdsm play and has evolved with chastity as the focus and bdsm as a tool. Some people we know view Swingers, Cosplayers, and BDSM'ers as weirdos would never knowingly associate with people of that ilk.

There are others who do play in the secrecy of their bedroom and never whisper of their dark desires outside of that room. They are afraid if word leaked out about their secret they would be ostracized by friends and family. The same is with us, our secret is known to a few close and like minded people and we keep each others confidence. Our exposing our lifestyle to others has been over years and people we felt were like minded and just needed an extra push.

I'm not sure it will ever be 'mainstream' but it is rapidly becoming a noticeable kink, like bdsm and sub-dom play. I was always interested in concept but never embraced it until cages became more functional and widely available. I think those factors will continue to increase the number of participants who do chastity, either as sex play or a lifestyle. For some men, it will always be taboo, as it detracts in some way from their alpha status while others will try it at least, as it can lead to more types of sexual experiences.

God I hope not. Male/Female relationships are becoming crap and getting worse as the fem nazi's gain more power. All for more and varied experiences but the domination and control aspect of it is a big turn off. I think women will/do just use it to add another level of control and to support their generally asexual nature.

I wouldn't underestimate internet porn as a forcing function. Guys tend to watch a lot of porn and it can cause problems. If a chastity cage became known as an easy solution to this issue it would go a long way to making it mainstream.
I'm pretty sure chastity was rare in femdom porn but now I see it all the time. It could be an algorithm thing or confirmation bias but i think their use in porn has increased dramaticaly.

Yes and thats a bad thing. Women are worse then men. I think in general men giving up power in more then a play way is bad and destructive to a relationship. There may be some that work as shown by members of this site but I think it is a very select subset.

I've searched for 'caged male' or 'chastity' etc a number of times on popular websites. Yes, you will find men in confined in large dog jails, or lots of sluts named 'chastity' but not too many dudes wearing chastity devices. I wouldn't plan on porn making the kink popular any time soon.

I agree, I never thought male chastity would break through to the mainstream, but it’s been featured in 3 prime time tv shows already and I never imagined I would be hearing a group discussion about cock cages in my place of work, but I have! I also think it’s just going to grow in popularity.

Women have been entrancing men since Eve. If it goes mainstream with women the relationship dynamic of the future is sure to change. But it wont happen from anything us guys have to say.

I wish. That would be awesome. Unfortunately, I think that it will be a while. But then again, who thought you would see dildos and vibrators on CVS and Walgreens dot com.

    So you just never know.

Condoms used to be behind the counter at the drug store and now they are on an easily accessible eye height shelf at walmart.

There are lots of things we see in mainstream advertising today that we thought would never happen when I was a kid.

Live bra and panty models on tv, and it isn't just Victorias secret. The older mainstream companies like Hanes and FTL do the same thing. Before, you were stuck reading the sears catalog under a cover so your parents wouldn't see you.

    Adult diapers.

    Womens pads and tampons.

2 people in bed lauding the praises of K-Y Jelly.

The list goes on. Could you imagine seeing this kind of stuff 40 or more years ago? Today it's normal to turn on your TV and see a almost naked woman in a commercial about a mainstream product, and nobody complains. Because, why would you?

So chastity? It would be great if it was wide open. The only problem I see is that it is presented in a way that it it considered a deviant product and philosophy, rather than normal.

That could be because of all the other things that are associated things that are out there. BDSM, cuckolding, FLR, etc. If people were just presented chastity training, without having to learn or know about any of those other things, perhaps it could catch on.

Marriage counselors should recommend them. Sex therapists should recommend them. I consulted a sex therapist, and told her my circumstances, and how I came to fund and choose a chastity cage as a solution to deal with things.

She said, "I would meet with you and try to help you deal with your situation but there would be no point because you found a perfectly good working solution. So stay with it".

If mainstream medical personnel were to recommend it, it would legitimize it, and be palatable to more people. Not just therapists but GP and other doctors, like urologists. Then it wouldn't seem so "weird".

My GP loves that I am in a cage. She thinks it created quite a good turnaround in my attitude and my anxiety disorder. So she is on board with it.

So, all we can do is hope that some of these things will continue to chip away at the perception that it is only good for kink. Caging is beneficial in ways many and varied that are not kink.

There are people on this site that do not do it for kink. I don't. But chastity caging has helped me so much. Hopefully if enough doctors and therapists catch on, maybe that will keep it moving forward.

I believe it is already becoming more mainstream. Cuckolding is one of the top 5 searched porn categories there is right now. Pegging and FLR are on the rise with the rise of feminism and men becoming more willing to give up control to a woman or at least view her as equal.
Chastity has been shown and talked about on MANY prime time TV shows, and not in a taboo way.
I have a girlfriend that owns a classy sex shop, and she has told me that strap on purchases are up over 250% and chastity cages are up almost 175% from just 2 years ago.
It's on the rise, and more prevalent than you probably know.
The issue is that it's still taboo, and even the people that love it and live it, don't talk about it.
That's why, for us, we are pretty open about it. People in my family know, people in his family know, some friends know. Why? Because its our life and they are a part of our life too and its important for people to not view it as such a taboo thing. Now, the next time they hear it talked about, they know I am doing it, and im not weird. If I'm not weird, and I'm doing it, maybe it isn't so weird.
    This is what normalizes it.
Don't be afraid to share that with people "close" to you.
(Obviously not everyone needs to know, but those that you can trust and believe can handle it, without causing conflict, speak up.)

    - My two cents. (Opinion only)

The only way I ever see male chastity becoming mainstream would be if the manufacturers ever advertised them as a way to increase the likelihood of getting pregnant if you lock him up 2 weeks. No more low sperm counts!

Wow, just wow. Ya know, I’ve always kept a sense of acceptance of different viewpoints here. Not all are into the same dynamics just because of a common interest in wearing a chastity device.

But fem nazis? Asexual nature? Just what do you get out of this site? Surely you have a problem with women. A problem with women that have power or control. And according to previous posts, a problem with your own anger and your response to it.

Respect. It seems you don’t have any for women. You like the idea of chastity, but only if it leads to you getting what you want. Your posts suggests women owe men sex and withhold it as a punishment.

Oh the poor modern man, women out of the kitchen, getting jobs, having male friends, even deciding when they have sex. My oh my, the nerve of them!

Fem nazis and asexual, that’s pretty much the opposite of actual women. You may be on to something with asexual though, at least if you scare them, disrespect them, ignore them, or take them for granted. Then yes, they do tend to get quite asexual.

You have been here for quite some time, and to tell you the truth I can’t comprehend why. This site, no matter who runs it, has always been about empowering women. You sound angry and resentful of them.

Angry yes, resentful, not hardly. I am for empowering all groups of individuals but not at the expense of disenfranchising other groups. If you follow the me too movement, family law, legal opinions etc, men are getting the short end of things. Hopefully it is just a pendulum swing and will equalize in the future. Women have always been the relationship gate keepers and who ever has the power to say no controls the sex. I do think women own men sex and vice versa. It is an implied part and parcel of most marital contracts as is the implication that you will support and defend your spouse. Most of the people on this site have consensually recreated their sexual dynamic and are possible much better communicators then most. As long as it works for them, thats fine even if I have a desenting opinion. What I can tell you is that at the current time, being a man is a rough road and it is only going to get worse before it gets better.

The nice thing about sites like this is that people can have different opions and express them.

Chastity will become more popular but not as mainstream as for example vibrating toys

And in most cases will be a fetish play, even here at the forum very few desire chastity if it wasnt for that, i only want to help me with my porn addiction but cases like mine are rare. normally it is the power transfer what rules it. Males are more engaged because they need more, many females want it but for a huge amount of them being a fantasy is just enough or they are simply afraid to tell which is sad (kink shaming is not good) so they dont need to buy a "cage" or share with others, females normally are more "reserved" about this type of things and if they talk you can see it is a much more gentle touch on it that if it was a male

Yes boo hoo, the poor disenfranchised man. For too long they have been unjustly stripped of all their rightful privileges.

Yes I disagree with you, along with most of the civilized world. Women or men do not owe sex...ever. Married or not. Sex is always consensual. Are women the gatekeepers of sex? Yes, their own.

You mentioned equalization, but that means equal, not a return of unequal and the past.

The me too movement isn’t some diabolical plan to ruin men, it’s finding the courage to speak up against brutality, assaults, harassment, and humiliation. You do realize that if they had nothing to speak up about, there would be no movement.

As far as the original question, I think it will be more known but not something readily confessed to. I myself have sometimes hoped it would slip out, I am actually quite proud of it in private.

Due to friends and work, I would get quite the ribbing. I don’t even tell people I’m pierced down there. If it came out I am sure I would handle it just fine though. Still even then, it’s not something most would eagerly admit to. Men in general have a cultural pride in their penis. Giving up control of it is seen as weak and less than male.

..and there, spelled out quite eloquently in remarkably concise form, is why male chastity will never be mainstream.

Perhaps...but it could also take on the connotation of something that's just nice to do for your lady/SO instead of being something only beta-types do. For that to happen though, male chastity should be treated as a lifestyle rather than a fetish, and it must also be able to stand on its own separately from things like bdsm, crossdressing, cuckolding, and kink in general.
