I’m so glad this topic has come up. Thousands, if not millions, will suffer needlessly. The more we can get the truth out there the better.

At least the Scottish Govt understand the issue in the UK:
"However, maximising that opportunity will require fundamental reform of the energy market.

The scandal of the current situation - the scandal of extreme fuel poverty in energy rich Scotland - is that renewable electricity is already relatively cheap.

Offshore and onshore wind can now provide electricity at a lower cost than nuclear or gas-fired power. And yet the wholesale price of electricity in Britain is driven by gas, the most expensive form of generation.

That must change. We will press the UK government to speed up fundamental reform of the energy market and break the link between the cost of gas and the price of renewable and low carbon electricity."

(From their programme for Govt today)

Again, thanks for adding local knowledge.

This sounds even MORE maddening. Alternatives exist, yet moribund government inefficiency may cause Grandma to freeze.

Funny how during the Covid crisis individual citizens were called Grandma Killers if they didn’t run out and take the poison shots. But now that government bureaucrats are at fault.....killing Grandma isn’t such a big emergency.

Luckily I didnt vote those idiots.

There were many failures done in the past. Begun with the shut down of the atomic power plants.

But now the issue cant be crazier. They shut down atomic ants, they shut down coal plants and left some atomic reactors as a redundant system.

Now that gas is so expensive due to their stupidity and lobbyism they still just burn it. This costs much gasy makes electricity prizes high and so has a domino effect.
Instead of really getting indempendent from gas from Russia by shutting down gas power pkants they shut tmdown the last 3 atomic reactors and coal plants after winter.

They really believe that the electricity grid can be managed with renewable facilities.
If there will be a blackout or a brownout. I will go somewhere else. Like scandinavia or irleand or Great britain. They arent connected to theainland european grid, which is reaching till turkey and Morocco.

    Politicians are incompetent everywhere.

Here’s a decidedly NON mainstream view from the USA about the current environment in Europe. I can assure you, very few Yanks have any idea what’s going on across the pond.

Dr Steve Turley has been a reasonable and accurate voice for years.

True! However, something tells me the technocrats will not surrender power that easily.

It’s interesting he mentions the Lega Party in Italy (formerly Lega Nord). We have many friends in Northern Italy (where the party originated) who are members. Very Conservative / Very Populist. Think: MIGA:

THE LEFT’S DESTRUCTION OF SOCIETY IS DESTROYING NORMAL LIFE IN EUROPE
Tucker Carlson has been documenting the Left’s destruction of society.

In one of his recent monologues, he laid out how events are destroying “normal life” in Europe.

Energy is obviously the key to a functioning society, and the elites don’t seem to care.

Or maybe they do care — and they’re making things worse on purpose.

Food shortages could and probably will be around the corner.

Tucker has a knack for pointing out the crazy. Ukraine must have some serious dirt on Western politicians.

I forget who said it, but we (the West) is voluntarily doing to itself in peacetime what the enemy attempts to do to it in wartime. (Shutting off power)

Well thanks for the informatio.n. But a rotation blackout is more a brownout.
Blackout is just a clickbait, because it generated fear in the population.
These rolling brownputs are a mechanism to prefent a fatal blackout, which coukd destroy the grit fast.

I think this is already a problem in US. I very often read about this ir see it on YT.

A big problem. What we are facing in Germany is, that we have many people who bought electric heaters. They want to save gas - for financial reason or just to be "green" and solidary.
I dont want to imagine what happens in wintertime, when all of them switch their heaters on at the same time.

Me for my person am very sure that we will have brown outs or blackouts in winter. It is no problme for a terroristic group to cut off almost all of europes electricity supply.
The mainland is from protugal, spain, marocco, franceover all european counries in the middle till ukraine included, Bulgaria and turkey. This is a big grid, which is stacked together from several grids. They can be cut iff if not synchrinzed and divided. But it is one grid. So if something happens hakf if Europe will be dark. Some years ago there was an accident on a construction site. It almost knocked off netherlands, norther Germany, Belgium and parts of France.

I am already a prepper since years. My wife and family always rolled her eyes and made fun about me because I stockpiled food and water.
    Now I am stockpiling firewood.
I dont see the failure. Better to be safe than sorry.
Well now they also bought some stuff and stood in front of empty storage cabinets when the ukraine war started.

So my recommendation is to all to get some stuff and keep it at home. Or somewhere else.

German Minister of Economics, Robert Habeck, Under Fire as Energy Driven Reality of Economic Collapse Starts Sinking In
German Minister of Economics Robert Habeck is under fire after his comments during an interview with an ARD broadcaster on Tuesday evening.

The conversation surrounded the astronomical rise in the price of energy taking all the income away from people who would purchase other goods and services. As Germans no longer can afford purchases, the stores and businesses can no longer operate. Minister Habeck was asked if that means a wave of bankruptcies and business closures are forecast.

Mr. Habeck responded that businesses can stop operating, but that doesn’t mean they will go insolvent. Just because the business loses most or all of their revenue, doesn’t mean they will go bankrupt. That doesn’t make sense, Minister Habeck was pressed to apply commonsense. If businesses close to save money, workers are not employed. If workers are not employed people do not earn income. If people do not earn income, the economy worsens.

Habeck had no response other than an economically detached “Green Party” perspective that businesses will not go bankrupt just because they are not operating. However, his facial expressions reflect that he knows what comes next, total economic collapse!

Yeah, peace and prosperity are right around the corner.

Perhaps it’s time to quit playing games (like the green economic suicide the west is committing) and get a little serious.

Speaking for the USA, there has to be a smooth transition to green energy production and other green policies but not only have the 'other green policies' been totally ignored but a long-term plan for energy doesn't exist.

The USA long ago could have embraced policies that encourage:

encouraging the use of glass and recycling of glass
limits in use of styrofoams and other packing materials
limits in use of aluminum in bottling
dramatic limits in use of plastics in a vast array of areas (bottling, packaging, consumer products)
standardization on larger batteries and charging of them (cars /trucks)
recycling of all sizes of batteries
    recycling of plastics

You could go on and on, but neither majority political party has even mentioned any of these low-hanging fruits.

Not only that, but we can spend billions (we don't have) on bridges and roads but somehow we can't invest in nuclear energy which is the only reliable clean energy we have going forward. The Democrats did pass 'a green energy' bill here recently but it consisted of subsidies and payoffs to their friends in big tech. It was just a feeding trough for political donors.

Politicians here drop a sound bite here and there but on the political stage no one gives a rats ass about green energy. I'm not a greenie (I'm a conservative libertarian) but I do recognize we are stewards of our planet and currently we suck at that job.

I can tell you the new prime ministers actions are not enough, the energy companies are saying they are making hundreds of billions of pounds over and above and she wont have a windfall tax, the UK is well and truly going to freeze this winter
