I'm guessing you're referring to the 'Dunning-Kruger effect' and not someone named 'Dunning Kruger', as the 'effect' was named after two different Psychologists.

That's actually not true. Your rights cannot be alienated by a private institution.

I was going to respond earlier, but my irony meter overheated and started a small fire.

Adding to this, forums like this present a difficult case because many members are not "out" with their fetish/ sexuality/ whatever. Hell, I've been in vanilla forums in which people did not want to supply visual, photographic, or other proofs that might have compromised their privacy; forums like this are a nightmare for such things.

Ironically, back in the early days of chastity devices, I put a lot of time and effort to writing real-world explanations, helpful tips, FAQ pages, etc., and I've been in groups in which people accused me of writing BS, and went on doing things that apparently just led to frustration, chafing, broken cages, etc. It used to bother me, but then I just left those groups.

I don't have a problem with a down vote button, but years of experience as a mod shows me that quite often, such down votes are used by member who simply don't like what the post or poster writes and has nothing to do with the veracity. This leads to a certain amount of group think or herd mentality. Hell, we already have some people who try to accumulate "likes;" I could easily see those people tailoring their responses so as to avoid down votes.

That leads to where we are now: if one sees a a post that looks a bit fantastical, it's perfectly right to question it. Newbs looking for attention will get the hint early and wander off elsewhere.

But with thousands of members here, with a wide range of, umm, sexual relationships, it's impossible to know who has been making things up.

I think I have a pretty good BS meter but reality is sometimes stranger than fiction. I could tell a few stories that are totally true but some of you would roll your eyes and think, “bull shit”!

That said, there are a few people here that I totally ignore because I think everything they say is BS. If you use these people as some sort of guide then you are a fool and you will get burned.

To be fair, I should have been clearer in my post about what I was referring to.

But, he should not have attacked me like he did. He could have asked for a clarification, and I would have provided one at that point. Instead, he attacked me ferociously, and I think without merit.

    He still has not apologized.

Personally, a BS button would be divisive IMHO!
If you don't like the content and have something to say, say it. Or, have a little grin to yourself and walk on.

I wasn't commenting on your comment. The irony is his own comment reflected a lack of self awareness that bordered on humorous.

Whenever I am reading/hearing about anything online, I like to follow the Ferengi Rule Of Acquisition # 190: "Hear all, trust nothing".

If people want to talk, tell the truth or tell stories..let them.

Ma Lucy does a pretty good job of calling things as she sees it. We don’t always have to agree with her, but she’s shown her judgement is usually excellent so she’s earned the respect she deserves.

For whatever it's worth, it's the unrealistic postings that turns off my Mistress from regularly interacting on sites. She's on here and corresponds 1:1 with other Mistresses, and the Keyholder Lounge is fantastic (and the reason She went through the verification process), but when it's 2% of a total site, it can be exhausting.

Maybe the solution for subs is a verified, real-life, owned submissive badge to complement the female-verified process. No idea what it looks like logistically, but I would certainly listen to those voices more than the others.

Page 2 of this thread is a perfect example of why this would be a bad idea. There's no way of stopping some people flying off the handle on webforums. And having their posts derided as bullshit is a pretty good way of starting them off.

There's always been BS on this site. It's usually easy to spot. Posts where a woman goes from reluctant to inserting buttplugs in the space of a couple of days are usually a good indicator. As our esteemed moderator said, the best thing to do is just ignore it. I learned that lesson on here pretty early (thanks to said moderator) and it works well for me.

There has always been BS on the internet. Everywhere. Even the news sites today have fake news.

It is up to the reader to evaluate the veracity of whatever they come across, and treat it accordingly.

If you have little imagination and experience and a fairly tame life then a lot of this will look like bullshit.

That's so true. Or you could just be very innocent! Remember being on holiday one year. Mrs Chaste was chatting to a woman about "lady's of the night" who seemed to congregate near a certain bar! When I said I hadn't noticed them, Mrs Chaste, the woman she was chatting to and her partner thought I was joking! So that evening she took me for a walk along to that area (which was pretty busy) and proceeded to point out the various "lady's". And it all became very clear! Now I will say the Lady's were not "bothering" men at all so there would be no need to worried about "unwanted approaches". They were "looking" but were only responding to obviously interested males! I must say it was very interesting to observe! I do hope everyone was safe and not coerced! Apparently some of my innocence is "sweet"!

For me if I think it’s BS I just treat their comments with caution, ignore that person or don’t interact with them.

I’ve seen enough on here to know some people are exaggerating and others although I find it hard to believe are telling the truth, there are some very kinky guys (and girls :0) in here.

As long as no one is saying something that could harm someone or intentionally promote hate, I’m content to ignore what might be an exaggeration as my filter.

But I do tend to be very easy going lol

    That is an understatement.

But if someone hasn't gone to a large BDSM event, or a decent size party they'd have no idea.

There is a huge difference between those of us who live this as a lifestyle and those who dabble in it.

I have noted that Lucy sometimes removes stuff to the fiction section. Not often, but it happens. A subtle way to make it clear that blatant bs can be spotted for what it is. I'm happy for her to decide what goes where on her website, so no need for a bs or dislike button....... in my opinion.
