After a lot of experimentation, I have found that the smaller and tighter the cage is when not aroused, the fewer problems I have with erections. The tightness seems to prevent erections from building up very much. (Erections come from the penis filling up with blood and when that is not possible because of the cage, it seems to shut down the flow of blood to the area.)

 

My husband had a fair bit of discomfort when his cage was large enough that it would allow for a little growth. The best device we've tried was the Nub, in my opinion. It was the first time he was able to sleep all night because it was so small, he couldn't even begin to get an erection. NO!! Chastity does not hurt and it should not be painful. Also, chastity has nothing to do with cuckolding or suffering. That is just porn fantasy. For me, there is no pain or pulling on the balls. The cage is small so that my flacid penis barely fits in it. It can't get erect. It's just a bit of pressure & frustration when I'm aroused.

If the cage has a good fit it does not hurt at all - theres is not even some kind of discomfort if the cb suits you.
When you try to get an erection the blood tries to rush in you still stay soft as your penis has no space to expand. At least that is how it is for me now.
When i did not have a cage that fitted as well is was something else entirely. When soft everything was fine, getting an erection though i would get half hard inside the cage and it would hurt a lot.


Any pain should be a sign though that there is something that should be changed.

You have to define "pain". Use the pain scale that hospitals use to determine if a person legit needs painkillers or is just in it for the high. The most "pain" a chastity cage should cause should be a little pressure and pulling on the testicals, depending on the design. I would call it a 3 on the pain scale. Its a bother/distraction, it can wake you up when you get nocturnal erections, but if you focus on something else its easy to ignore until it subsides.

If the pain is severe. like it causes panic and he's begging for the keys, etc, or there is any significant discoloration to the testicals (a dull shade of pink slightly more than normal is fine) or edema of the penis flesh through the cage that stays after the erection subsides, then the cage is too tight and should be adjusted or swapped for a slightly larger model/larger ring (note that the penis is extremely flexible and can be crammed into a super tiny cage no problem when flaccid, the important factor is always the base ring fit).

There should not be any sharp pain points, though it is common for a man who is just getting used to being locked to have some tenderness on the underside of the testicals where the base ring rubs. This can be treated with diaper rash cream and keep the area clean. A good way to clean the cage thoroughly if you are enforcing a lockdown is a soft automotive detailing brush. you can get them at an autoparts store or amazon pretty cheap. game changer when it comes to long term lockup hygiene.
