Makes sense to me. Verification is and should always be voluntary, but there should be some perks (other than the “perk” of being harassed by horny assholes) for the women who take the trouble. A women’s only space might be a good start for that.

It needn’t be visible or even known to the rest of us.

Actually, for all I know, it may already exist.

But getting back to @DommeLP’s original point, there is no excuse for the kind of behavior she’s describing, and we have to find a way as a community to make this a harassment-free zone at an absolute minimum! I’m 100% opposed to putting up barriers to entry for the site, but there has to be a way (restrictions on posting or messaging for new members, or something) to make this a more comfortable space for women—all women, not just those who have verified.

 

I think it should be incumbent upon us makes to police ourselves. If we see someone acting inappropriately toward another, especially a woman, we should speak up. Silence may be taken as tacit permission. However, I think in this particular case, it was a private communication, so we would not see it.

An additional thought may be for us to add some “be sure to be respectful of the women and the forum’s rules” reminders to our welcome messages. Peer pressure.

 

Sadly I think the biggest reason of this harassing behavior is that horny guys are lazy and don't seem to make the effort to read any of the guidines, or the ladies profile. They are blinded by there own fantasies and spam out messages without thinking.

It seems the only way they eventually learn is through the constant rejection and those patient enough to point out the error of there ways.

I don't know if there is an easier way the site can be setup to reply with some sort of quick response or a link to a thread with appropriate guidlines where they can learn and be reminded how they should behave and learn a few manners along the way.

Any sort of process which helps the community to prevent the behavior from snowballing and the female members to feel safer.

 

Man, that would be perfect in my opinion-hit a button that replies to a jerk with a link on proper etiquette. Or if we could forward annoying messages to a Mod who could send them a "warning" notice. That's a lot of work for Mods, which is why sending a manners link sounds a lot easier.

 

I think its disgusting that men go off like this, especially on a forum where the female is "Boss" These men should just be banned full stop.

OP i understand how you feel as ive had issues with males on here pestering me to chat privately and issues where the invisible mode keeps failing. I dont answer these private chats at all but now there posting on my profile wall "deleted strait away" Last post was " I see your set to invisible as I cannot contact you by private chat so ive posted this on your profile page"

OMG, I had no idea it was that easy! I don't know if asking women to be KH in first message is worth a report, but I would like a "use better manners" button on those boys.

 

I would hate to overload the mod with work but a "Twit button" (as I've seen it called on other forums) wouldn't be a bad idea.

 

Could I suggest that you create a signature with a message that clearly states that you are not wanting anyone to ask you to be their keyholder? It’s one of the settings you can use in your profile area. I realise that it is intrusive and for the majority of us uneccesary, but as a way of warding off some of the idiots it might work.

 

I suspect that besides the occasional rude or at least uncouth remark, sheer numbers can be overwhelming for some.

I think all male brains are wired that way, but some of us have better developed behavioral inhibitors.

I would think it’s common sense to read a profile before asking them to lock up your privates.

 

Isn’t being contacted more likely if your a ‘verified female’?

Maybe one of the downsides of this process.

As a consequence every other female is ‘unverified’ and less likely to be contacted?

Exactly! And that goes for both male and female posters. It is just common sense.
