    I just put a deposit on a new T
Mazda Miata RF with manual transmission. Delivery expected end of Feb or early March

I'm very excited about getting this car. I admired British roadsters when I was a kid, although only from afar.

My Wife can drive a stick (no pun intensed) so I'm also fantasizing about the attention She will receive when She drives around with the top down

    Any other Miata owners here?

I test drove one a few years ago. I took it on a road we’d drive Mustangs real fast. Going through the grears it felt like I was flying but looking at the Speedo I was barely above the speed limit. So I laugh at Miatas as they feel like you’re going real fast and fun to drive but nothing like the brute power of a V8 Mustang.

As an aside I drove one of the IRS Mustangs on that road and was doing about twice the legal limit and barely feeling it. That car handled like a race car. Real fast and easy to drive but not very fun or challenging. The previous generation Mustangs were much more fun with the solid axle. Lots of bouncing on the rough pavement and the rear wanting to get away if you weren’t careful. Much more fun IMHO.

Bad ass women driving bad ass cars is always fun to see. My wife had a 2011 red Ford Mustang a few years back, I loved watching her drive off in it. You could tell she really loved that car and she looked sexy AF in it.

I like Mazdas a lot. I have never had a Miata but they look like fun cars.

Have you seen the new RX-Vision? They just released views of it and it looks insane.

Less brute power but more fun to drive at legal speeds is perfectly fine with me. :)

It’s LONG been the case that driving a slow car fast is more fun than driving a fast car slow. And the Miata has wring the most out of the job. Mazda makes great cars. (We own a Mazda).

And why are typical go karts so fun? It ain’t cuz they’re fast.

I had my Mustang out the other day. It’s heavily modified and way beyond brute power. But it was still fun to drive at (mostly) legal speeds!

While I stand by my defense of the Miata, I’ll ALSO stand by the great joy of a powerful V8! Mustangs rule too.

    Cars are awesome.

I’ll only say this: My rig has a 2.5 liter flat four turbo massaged to 350bhp with matching torque.

    Yay!

I may kid others about their cars. But I won't insult anyone. Well except for the kids with the Hondas with the fart cans, huge wings, and alignment that makes no sense!!!!

FYI, I've always been a muscle car guy. Early Camaros and Mustangs. After that anything from the late 60s and early 70s.

Unfortunately, not me! Have once test sat and do not fit in. I am to tall. The seat can not be pushed far enough back and I could only drive it with the roof open. :(

We owned one, an older model, 1999, for some time. It was an automatic so not quite like a British sports car. I loved ours, very nimble, fast enough but not a speed demon. Having owned super fast cars, I much prefer the quickness, maneuverability, and general fun of a small sports car. Being a convertible only adds to the enjoyment. Of course, my preferences were shaped by my first car, a 1960 Sunbeam Alpine.

The Miata has everything good about a British sportster with none of the faulty engineering hassles. So you should have lots of fun with it. I wish we still had ours, as it is perfect car to drive around in a short skirt, hose and heels, with top down.

Why do the British drink warm beer?

    Because Lucas made refrigerators too!

I’ve only driven one Miata and it was a first Gen and that was over 20 years ago. I don’t like the way the first gens look compared to every model that’s cone since then but holy cow can that car handle. Probably one of the most fun cars I’ve ever driven when it comes to handling. My wife’s Mustang was heavy and still handled well but nowhere near as well as the Miata. Currently we have an 01 BMW 540i as just our toy car. I switch between that and my truck to keep miles down on both. That is a HEAVY car but still fun in a corner because it’s easy to break the rear end loose but it’s always straightens out so you don’t get into to much trouble lol. I love the balance BMW strives for with their cars.

Sadly no longer an owner but we have had a few, graduating from the Roadster to the RF. It's called the Mazda MX-5 in the UK.

We passed our last one on to our son, so we still see it regularly.

Absolutely. It's a fun car to drive and sticks to winding country lanes like glue! Point it where you want to go and it does it without fuss.

In Britain we have the benefit of narrow, winding lanes of course -just what it's made for.

It's drunk as its made, at ambient temperature or slightly less when kept in a cellar. And best enjoyed in a country pub reached down a winding country lane in an MX-5!

Another is that the weather rarely gets that hot!

Haha - that’s made my day.

I did have the joy of driving a B GT once in a while back in the sixties, but never tried maintaining one since then.

Both my son and daughter (young adults who live nearby) are eager to learn how to drive a stick shift and my son in particular is looking forward to take his girlfriend for a ride with the top down.

Dealer just called and I am getting the Miata tonight!

I already have a bunch of mods planned (safety and convenience, not performance)

    I am so excited!

What could be better than top down and a beautiful companion in a classic, superbly balanced car?

I need to learn how to drive an automatic. My friends tell me its the future! ;)

I'm very happy with the Miata.

It is so beautiful to look at - I love its shaply curves. During break-in period I'm driving it gently but I can anticipate how much fun it will be when I can open it up (with top down of course). Great to have a stick shift again after 20 years of automatics

My Wife says it's a "toy car" and She's right. But we all need to play with toys, right?

My Wife has nicknamed the Miata as "Ladybug" which I think is a great name for a car owned by man with a small, locked penis. ;)

    Good choice!

I drove a Miata NBFL several years.
It had the 1.9 l machine and was a special edition with leather seats, wooden Stearing wheel, shift grip, and handbrake grip.

The best car I ever had. It drove like a gocart and was a lot of fun. The design is also very lovely except the NC which has been really ugly.

It was my daily driver for several years. Even in winter. Closed only if it was raining.

We loved this car. Unfortunatedly we had to sell it because of many issues. The ECU, rusting frame, worn tie rods and so on. At all it has been too expensive to repair it properly in Germany.

I wanted to buy a Miata ND but my wofe said no, because we are four people now.
So the next cabrio wont be a roadster. More a 4 seater.
If the boys get older I will buy a miata again for sure.

NA, NBFL or and ND, but not an RF.
