This is exactly what I'm talking about.
Students are already in debt when they leave education and they start out life in debt.
Then, as is often the case, they will soon be borrowing further to invest in a car or a house or both.
In order to pay all of these debts they will have to work. If you have to work all of the time in order to pay off debts then you are unable to do as you wish with your time.
There will be no freedom to explore or change career or simply do as you wish with your time because you will have sold the rights to yourself to a financial institution.
Before you are even old enough to realize the implications.

I've read, carefully, all of the above posts in this thread which decry my original statements but I still fail to be able to see it any other way.

Findom has become a heavily misunderstood kink from all sides. It has been heaverly tainted by a large number of lazy, rip off, scamming, heartless pretend to be dommes who have destroyed its reputation.

At it's purest form it is simply giving up some control over the financial aspect of your life to someone else. There are genuine findoms out there who actually take the kink very seriously respecting your financial needs and actually encourage you to make better financial decisions. They would most likely take a cut of what they help you earn but they would properly budget for all your needs setting you up so you are completely self sustainable. They would simply be slightly more dominating financial advisors.

I can see the rush this would give some people and why they would enjoy it but I (like most people) could never give over that much power away even though it could help remove a lot of daily stress.

You always have options in life with a dominant and with the financial conveyer belt life appears to force you through. Your decisions carry different consequences depending on how you choose to comply.

As I see it the big differences between a findom and financial institutions is one has us all blind to the power they really have and they benifit from having the full weight of the law on there side with much tighter, enforceable contracts.

What you're consistently missing here is that there are other parties involved besides just you.
Hate to break it to you, but the world does not revolve around whatever you happen to feel like at a given time.
All standard debt arrangements incorporate clauses whereby either party can terminate under certain conditions. There will more than likely be penalties for doing so however, and rightly so.
If you voluntarily enter into an agreement with another party then at a later date just decide you want to to walk away, there is an impact on the counterparty, so it's only right you should be penalised for choosing that option.

I believe the concept is known as honouring ones obligations.

If you continually take on obligations and fail to honour them, then subsequent new obligations will cost you more, and penalties for breaking them will be harsher, because you are rightly deemed a higher risk.

As previously stated debt is a tool. If you abuse it there are consequences.

    All perfectly reasonable.

OK so even if you have no debt you still have to pay for food and shelter. How do you propose to do that if you do not work?
    Claiming welfare?
That's fine, but unfortunately it can't work if everyone does it.
    :(

Of course there is. People with mortgages and car loans change career all the time.
You can't seriously be saying you don't know that.
See above, you need some way to provide yourself with food and shelter, so you need to work anyway.
What's your alternative? Total self-sufficiency? I think you'll find thats a lot more work and affords a lot less freedom than convential employment. It's also unachievable. At some point you will need something you can't provide for yourself. It's just idiotic to think otherwise.

    Who makes that judgement, you?
At 18 you can join the army, drive a car, go to prison for murder, drink alcohol, get married....
Are you seriously saying that's too young to make responsible financial decisions?

Unfortunately that myopia is your fault alone.
I think you're just trolling now.

I'm sorry cuckster but no matter how rude, angry or disrespectful you are or how much you try to throw your weight about it's not making any difference to my observations.

People are in debt and that debt marginalises their freedoms.

I'm sorry @Mascara^Snake but your repeated denial of facts does not make them any less true.
Responding to the poster and not the post only serves to further prove the defeat of your argument.

Actually they aren't. They're economically dependent on the EU.
It's a good example though. They borrowed way beyond their means to collateralise or repay.
Now they are dependent on handouts to operate.
They are lucky said handouts are available to them. Had they not requested the EU bail them out, they would not be, and the country would be far worse off.
Far from being enslaved, being bankrolled by the EU has prevented a massive humanitarian crisis.

This thread seems to contain an unhealthy amount of aggression although looking through the posts I think @Mascara^Snake raises some very valid arguments.

The scale of financial pressures can be extremely diverse just the same as a Domme/sub dynamic. There is plenty of scope for overlap and it would be nieve and narrow minded to think otherwise.

I have certainly found myself jumping though more hoops due to the financial pressures I've faced in life. My freedom has also been restricted on numerous occasions due to my financial limitations.

A few years ago the UK was plagued by a number of high interest loan companies such as Wonga known for providing easy access loans and then charging extremely high interest on the repayments. They developed a reputation for scamming a large percentage of the population out of lots of money. They would certainly have a lot in common with with the darker more recognised perception of findom. Luckily new legislation put restrictions in place to help prevent these scams from creating too much dept.

People have to work to live. Unless they have rich parents or an inheritance.

Even wild animals have to work to find food and shelter, if not they will die.

You'll be saying we're a slave to air next because we have to breathe it.

Animals are never in Debt Lucy.
They don't have to toil away their lives to pay intertest on loans to support other richer animals lifestyles.

Interesting notion about animals and debt.
I'm pretty sure if they had opposable thumbs and their brains were developed enough to understand and implement concepts like free trade and currency, they would be.

When you have to worry about health care and education costs on top of housing and other expenses -- few Americans have the freedom you are talking about. Many Americans, however, view freedom as no one "telling them what to do" and hence see free markets as a way to personal freedom v. a trap into a lifetime of wage-based, servitude.

I really don't think bringing animals into the equation makes any sense and I'm sure nothing that humanity does makes any sense whatsoever to them.
    Why would it?

Sure it does. Free trade and currency are developmenta/evolutionary concepts. Like farming, fire and the invention of the wheel. Democracy and the abolition of slavery would be two more.

Interesting. So you're saying animals can apply logic?

    I don't think that's possible anymore.
Humanity has moved so far off course and has become lost in and obsessed with it's own constructs and infrastructure and the notion that it has bettered itself in some way through their creation. None of which are essential to our happiness or survival here. Once that ifrastructure and the conditions we rely on are removed then we will collapse very quickly into what could be considered an animal state only without the skills or knowledge to deal with it. Those are gone and as time passes we continue to accelerate or disconect, regardless of the coming changes.

With regard to debt. I would urge any young person to avoid it as if it were a plague.
Use your wits to avoid it. Don't accept it as inevitable.
It's a ball and chain that you don't need.

Not only this, it is totally unsuitable for the modern world of limited resources being used up at an ever-increasing rate and huge population growth. It may have been the best of a set of possible systems for a while, but it needs to adapt rapidly to the modern world. Unfortunately it seems to be becoming more voracious.
