Not setting any records here, but I was just in a 21 day lockup. Best suggestion, Ink Jet Printer Cleaning Swabs, (Amazon available by 100's) and Johnson's Baby Wash. These swabs are 1/4" sponges on a plastic stalk, they last a week or more with daily cleaning, and do a really good job. With the 4" plastic stick, so they are long enough to get in most places. You'd be surprise what a little soap and water can do for your long term wear. JBW is super mild, and if you don't wash it off perfectly, it's not likely to be irritating.

In my opinion, as long as you can get in to what ever device you are wearing and clean it, you should be fine for the long term. YMMV, but once or twice daily cleaning will keep all the parts functioning.

What kind of cage did you use? How open was it? What was your hygiene regimen? Did you use any skin conditioner or lubricant? I’ve worn my MM Jailbird for 30 days at a time with none of the problems you describe, but that is a very open design and I clean myself daily with a shower brush and use baby oil gel or Squirrel’s Nut Butter to prevent chafing.

 

I've gone over 3 months in a Steelheart 2. It's enclosed with a few drain holes at the tip. No problems. Why? Daily showers with a handheld wand and it's sized to allow plenty of room to get a good flow of soapy water in there.
