Just got back from a 10 mile ride in the beautiful wintry sunshine. Very cold though.
So I realised that whereas I adjust my saddle sitting to avoid squishing the lil trapped fellas...They cant retract to warm up and its the darndest cold out there.
Now I feel them relieved to be gently warming as I drink some hot tea. Ill give them a hot shower...that wouldnt be fair to their friend locked away in steel though. Maybe a hot bath then.
Anybody else get cold balls when you bike in winter?

It is definitely tougher to stay comfortable when it’s cold out! Depends on the bike and your position, how aggressive it is, how uncomfortable it gets. My bike now is more upright. I also have had very good luck with the trusty Brooks B-17 saddle. But cold is still an issue. Extra lube on the base ring and I’ve even gone as far to wear a sock over everything!

Riding in warm weather wasn’t really a problem for me, but I never tried it in cold weather. I did have them attempt to retreat while running in cold weather. I imagine it’s about the same. I don’t think there is any way to prevent it, other than buying an indoor bike trainer and riding on Zwift or something.

The sock trick works wonders for me and it reduces pinching, too! That's helped me keep going riding down to the freezing point.

Yep I have a pretty upright bike and when Im on the flat I ride without hands on the bars so that I can keep my back straight and weight off the groin.
I always wear briefs to counter the gravity of the cage, but maybe Ill ad a woolly sock next time. Thx for the idea!

I agree, briefs are a must. Or a thong or jock, keeps everything centre and in position! Also stops the cage showing as much.

I recommend good support (briefs or speedo, most jocks are too loose) and sweat pants. And look at 'rail' saddles ... they have two buttresses that support your pelvis without crushing your meat. I've also found a cup over my CB inside tight briefs stabilizes the hell out of things and nothing gets pinched or jostled, and it smooths the unusual contours under my bike shorts or whatever. Works for most sports, no social stigma or stopping to explain (which I don't mind, just please not during a workout.)

I found a cup to be so uncomfortable when playing baseball. I can’t even imagine riding my bike in one. I never wear my bib shorts without some shorts over them anyway, so no worries on the unusual bulge. Not that it is noticeable anyway. Whatever works though I guess.
