realistically, how common is it

My wife had no idea they existed, outside of medieval chastity belts. I really didn’t either until about 5 years ago or so when I was browsing Reddit by new and a photo came up. While it didn’t interest me at the time (to be honest it was more of a “why the hell would any guy want a cage on his penis”), once our private time became more adventurous I recalled it and the rest is history. I have zero evidence to back it up, but I would wager most of the time in a heterosexual relationship men bring it up to their women and most of those men find out about it through porn or random chance on the internet.

 

Maybe as well known as a vibrator in the 1970s. I don't think my wife knew before I told her about it. But she's 50. I'll bet most 25 year old women have at least heard about it though.

 

I would imagine everyone would know what one is if ask "what is a male/female chastity device" but a lot might be thinking of the belt type. Now if you phrase it as "cock cage" I think they would all be able to tell you what that is...

But I don't think it is on someone's radar in their top 10 or 20 sex/BDSM "toys". I am not sure if it would even come up on their list unless mentioned, then you might get an "Oh, good point! Wouldn't have thought of that..."

 

All I know is that my wife loves my attention to her and the ability to say “take care of me, I am juicy.

 

It is rare.. at least at the sex toy shop at the local mall.. where dildos and fanciful condoms top their sales.. most chastity device is sold online, predominantly male clientele, mostly assume it to be used among gay couples. Most male Sex toys are meant to encourage sex.. vibrators, flashlights, electro stimulation.. not inhibit sex like the chastity device.
i have been to the biggest market and producer of sex toys in shenzen.. yes they do have various displays of the male chastity device in wholesale markets.. i see couples walking past.. women will giggle sheepishly while the men will struggle to quickly walk past saying no no i need much bigger ones..

 

There is a mega thread Estimated Population in Chastity. We've never reached a consensus, but it looks like less than half of 1%, i.e. no more than 1 in 200.

We also have a mega thread on sightings in mainstream media that suggests it's in the consciousness of people interested in sex, especially the gay community. However, I think it is still something the wannabe wearer tends to bring up.

I have always suspected that the illusion that we found it together accidentally is mine alone and it was my wife's way of introducing the idea which she became very enthusiastic about far to quickly for it to have been a surprise encounter.

I was really surprised that the sites had this and I personally think they weren't on the sites 5 to 10 years ago. The one thing that was really sad was the price. Everything was really overpriced, but I would imagine they can get it shipped to you quicker than some of the other sites.

I think them selling modular chastity set is great, but when they are charging close to 150 dollars USD for something you can get else where for 30... they might really be a factor in it "kicking off". I also think chastity could be implemented for people mainstream as a short term tease device, but I don't think it could take off as a long term thing.

The verdict is in for me... These sites aren't too invested making it main stream, but they aren't going to let them bottom line be effected if people are looking! Nice to see.

 

But what was the original hypethesis? As you could argue sex toy shops wouldn’t want to sell these items?
Or even that the immense scale of people requiring chastity devices cannot be met by a reliable supplier to these sites?

I think the original question was something like, "Is male chastity as visible as vibrators?"

 

Face it man, if someone doesn't have chastity on their radar at all... where is the most common place they will find it? PornHub or some sex shop... 10 years ago chastity existed, but it really wasn't on this generic sex shops... cool to see it there now.

This is a very valid point. I think there are a lot of repeat buyers, especially when people first start. I think getting a couple of devices to see what things are out there makes sense, because when you look at the "premium" devices like Mature Metal... they seem ridiculously priced. But if people just bought 1 premium device instead of a bunch of cheap ones, they might be better off... assuming they get the sizing right.

My Wife has me Manzilian waxed and my legs waxed, and at that rather well-traffic-ed shop I'm one-out-of-one for guys getting either thing. I've asked my aesthitician about it before. She had one other guy that used to get his junk waxed and he was a bodybuilder that did competitions.
