How many are Locked is the harder thing to guess.

The fact that the Chinese have jumped into the market and mass produce so many indicates a large demand.

The fact we see new companies making high end devices is a great sign.

And let’s not forget 3D printing and home made devices.

One figure that has been used to estimate the number of gay people is 10%. I doubt we have as many people in chastity as there are gays, but I could be wrong as chastity increases in popularity.

So let’s just guess 1%.
In the USA we have approx 330 million people. Roughly half are male is 165 million males.

So one percent is 1.65 million men in the in the US that are locked at least some of the time.

Given the number of cages probably sold this is probably low. But until someone does a formal study we have no idea and even then it’s still only as good as the research methods and estimates.

Does the increased production mean more people are being locked up or that chaste males now have more cages per person. With the onset of cheaper cages, certainly in my case I have purchased more to try out different designs.

Keep in mind though that long term lock ups are fairly rare contrary to what we all fantasize about. But better more comfortable and more secure devices make longer term lock up more likely.

 

We often look around when we go out and playfully observe couples see if we can pick out any chaste chaps! Its quite good fun! I wonder if we've ever been right. Judging by some couples we know of, chastity would probably make them a whole lot happier! I must say I would be intrigued to know the answer!

Ya, but a significant number of those 1.65M are too young to be counted/participate. For example their are more males 1 y/o than 2 y/o, and so on. Your realistic number will be somewhere on a curve, being only a percentage of that 1%. Also, many participants own multiple devices, I have four myself.

I agree though that the number most certainly seems to be increasing...just the sheer number that have joined here in the last four months since myself, is a fairly impressive rate per day.

Part of me hopes it becomes more mainstream, but then part of me not. If it becomes common, then is it stilll kink?

 

Yes I was going to mention that there is a significant number of minors who shouldn’t be in the calculation. But we don’t kniw the real percentage, so 1% of the total was as reasonable a guess as any place to start until we get better numbers

 

I'm not sure how one can quantify the numbers. Humans are prone not to divulge things about themselves that they think might be embarrassing if made public.

 

there are all sorts of reasearch methods that allow us to get decent samples. If a sample is stastucally reliable then the calculations can be assumed reliable within* the expected margin of error.

While I'm pretty sure the numbers of men who at least semi-regularly wear a chastity device are increasing, the industry still has room to grow and this sign alone shows me the demand is still not being met. And the numbers of men in chastity are definitely significantly lower than the number of devices sold, as even most of those who do end up regularly locked tend to own devices they can't/don't use.

Yes, the practise is a lot more widespread and a lot more acceptable than it was ten years ago. The number of affordable chinese devices that fit more-or-less average-sized men certainly helped. However, I'd say that the men who can wear the first device they've bought long-term are a minority.

Keep in minf that even though a basic chastity device is no high-tech item, finding one that fits and just works is something most people need multiple tries for - and many are in fact restricted to custom devices or DIY efforts. I'd be surprised if one in ten devices sold ended up regularly used.

We will know the practice has matured once we reach a point where buying a device that woks for you is about as difficult as buying yourself acceptable glasses.

They don’t even sell them at most erotica stores yet. When you can find them at all erotica stores then we will be close to mainstream.

This, to me, would be little better than enslaving women would. Forcing *anyone* into any sexual practice is wrong, no matter how much one personally enjoys such a practice, and the fact is that most people have little interest in chastity play and are unlikely to change their views anytime soon. Can you imagine trying to push a male dom / female sub couple who actually love such play that they should switch their roles?

What we should hope and strive for is acceptance and availability. Enjoying chastity play should be about as taboo as enjoying oral sex is in today's mainstream view. Sure, not everyone likes it, but there's nothing perverted about those who do. And it would be nice if buying a well-fitting and affordable chastity device was about as difficult as buying a well-fitting and affordable vibe.

What I hope for doesn’t have to be what I know will happen.
And I don’t appreciate the lecture. Read my posts. Read lots of them and you’d get a good idea of where I stand on things.
FYI I actually agree with you on many of your points. But that has nothing to do with taking my post and twisting it to lecture me.

 

All I know is my wife said if you;re going to spend over $400.00 on a chastity device, Then you are going to wear it. Period.
