Ok general pub chat really but..... Years ago chastity devices were hard to find, only a few places on the old webernet! Not very many pornos had them in, not many when trying to search for images ect. Fast forward to now, 100s to buy on eBay Amazon ect different colours models sizes materials, 100s of images .....yet.... Still very underground, iv never had or overheard a conversation where cages are mentioned, don't know anyone in my day to day travels with one on. Who is buying them all!!! Who's is wearing them all???
Get involved with your local BDSM community when things open up. You’ll find submissive men serving dominant women, submissive men serving other men or couples, and just guys experimenting. So no, you won’t here it as a main discussion point at a munch or educational event, but as you get to know folks you’ll start to here people talking about it. And at Fem Dom sub male events it’s very common.
Well probably most folks who get into chastity wind up buying 5 to ten of them, so that helps drive demand. But no doubt it is more common, if still really rare, than a few years ago.
I personally have over a dozen in my collection. Some of us. are in constant search for the perfect cage so we buy new ones regularly to test. Plus they're like $15-$25 now for a decent stainless version so it's easy to afford several.
Everyone who actually does it has a few, trying to find a good fit. Many people probably have one that hurts, and that was enough for them. And remember, not many people share their kinks. You probably don't hear much about bondage furniture either, but it's out there.
It's hard to imagine the dinner table or pub conversation that swings round to a discussion on chastity cages and who's wearing them. Some things are kept private
We have a long running thread trying to guesstimate the numbers based on things like known sales figures. Personally, I think the numbers of anglophone adult men who own at least one device are probably surprisingly high - between 1% and 5%. We also know that a huge proportion of people have BDSM fantasies, and roughly a quarter of couples do some kink, giving us 10% of couples doing Femdom at least sometimes. In answer to the OP: People don't talk about kink. They'll talk about Maledom before they'll talk about Femdom. When they do talk about Femdom, they focus on obvious 1st order bottoming stuff like being tied up, or getting a spanking... things with obvious sensual benefits. They don't talk about weird masochistic stuff, and they don't talk about genitals. Add to this that chastity devices are very hard to depict in action on screen in mainstream media. We have a thread of "sightings", and devices turn up in TV shows from time to time, but I can think of only one instance where you actually see one worn, and that wasn't during a sex scene. Think about how sex scenes are shot and acted - it would actually be quite difficult to incorporate a chastity device.
I did see a house for sale recently that had an interesting bedroom. It was a large remote house and one of the bedrooms had red walls, black woodwork and a very sturdy wooden four poster bed. The rest of the house was similar styles so it did seem like the owners had a lifestyle. Another had a loft room described as a "play room", but the access was a ladder, and the decor was quite dark again so it didn't take much imagination to think it wasn't for "child's play".
