Too experienced for an emergency key?

I've been playing with chastity now for almost 25 years with every sort of belt and tube available. My personal favourite is the Steelworxx Steelheart. Custom measured so it fits, PA fixing so you can't take it off, built-in lock. I've worn it for 8 weeks straight in the past and no problem.

This week though was different, something wasn't quite right, going out in the cold for walks and coming back into the warm was painful and I just thought it was skin sticking and natural changes.

It was getting more and more irritating during the day until about 2am when I woke up in bed virtually crying as if something was wrong and twisted. Everything was cold, even moving was agony.

Did I mention that because of experience and how well this fits, I don't have an emergency key? Domme has them both and is 80 miles away, after this many years, I've never needed one.

So here I am, eyes watering in pain with the toolbox trying to break the lock and it won't move. I'm channelling my inner burglar trying to work out what to do and I'm trying all the other keys I have to similar locks, but none work. I finally remember bumping locks so I put in a key that fits the hole and lean on it, put a screwdriver behind the lock and tap the lock with a hammer and luckily the lock undoes. I was so relieved.

This morning I woke up with 2 cuts from pinching, and bruised balls from twisting but fortunately no more damage.

The moral of this story. It doesn't matter how experienced you are, an emergency key is a must. It doesn't have to be that accessible, but it should be there.

Here are some ideas for different cost/security if you need them

    - An envelope signed across the openings, it is clear if opened
    - Wrap the key in paper, sign paper, wrap the paper in sellotape (scotch tape). No way to open it without destroying the signature
    - Kitchen safe, https://intl.thekitchensafe.com/ timed lock and if you have to you can break them open with a hammer
    - Key box, https://www.amazon.co.uk/Mounted-Waterproof-Security-Combination-Capacity/dp/B0B1P6CK5Y or https://www.amazon.co.uk/Outdoor-Safe-Rubber-Cover-Button/dp/B00AOBZMG2 with the combination now only a phone call away
    - Chronovault, a very expensive gimmick but it solves the problem https://www.dreamloverlabs.com/chronovault.php

Please have access to a key, but make sure your keyholder will know about it if you try to cheat. I have no doubt I would have been in the hospital this morning. Not what any of us want.

It's good to have a real life post every once in a while, as a reminder to keep things safe and sane. Hope you're okay.

That might not have helped, it might have been desperation, but at 2am and in pain I'll take the win

I use either of your first two, simple but effective methods. An emergency key should always be within a reachable range but "protected". Experience doesn't cater for life's unexpected twists!

I live with my GF and I don't have ready access to a key.

We have a wall mounted key box (with combination) and that is where the spare keys are. If she is away and I need the key for any reason then I will ask for the combination, if I can't get hold of her I'll break the lock on the cage (I have already identified a method).

I've never had the luck of finding a key holder, but i always imagined having an emergency key close by, but sealed so use would be obvious, would only highlight the loss of control i was experiencing. So even if i had no need for a regular release, having such a key nearby would be worth it.

Glad you are ok. As you found out- we have many things in life meant for emergencies that are hopefully never needed, but wonderful to have when you do.

Always keep your emergency key even if it's locked in a tube with a identification plastic lock, emergencies happen no matter how close to home you are.

I use numbered plastic locks, but if I used a padlock there is no way I would not have a spare key near me. No matter how experienced I am or how well my cage fits. You never know when an emergency will happen.

Glad that nothing serious happened and that you are alright.

Never had to do that in 18 years, but even a veteran can need help.

    Good advice.

I think the steelheart lock can be defeated with a screwdriver in the brass lock if need be, where the tab meets the cage, pry it against the mech, that said I have never had to do it in so many years.

I remember hobbling into my partners place of work, wearing the pictured belt. I had fallen off my bike the night before, broke my collar bone and snapped my Achilles tendon both on the same side. I manged to walk up 4 flights of stairs backwards and take pain killers to my apartment and slept the night. At that stage I did not know the extent of my injury.

Next day I woke and I knew I could not go work but I knew I had to go to doctor. Which is another story in itself.

My partner was working that day and I needed the key to the belt. She did not know the extent of my injury nor did I, anyways it would have been good to have an emergency key and not be an inconvenience.

They didn't let me out for a week, because they thought I couldn't care for myself :(

But its all good now :)

The moral of the story is ..you need an emergency key, just do it.

That said I don't have an emergency key now, I know I can count on my partner, and worst case scenario , my toolbox is handy lol

    Always put saftety first.
Everything can happen out of the blue.
My Mistress lives far away so I have my little sparekey in this little box. You can even carry it with you in case of an emergency if you are travelling.

I have been wearing my Steelworxx looker 02 for last three years. No problem has happened.
A couple of weeks back, I was skiing with my 7 year old son. It was cold.
After I sat in my car to drive home from ski-slopes my balls started to shrink and right testicle started trying to escape. It has never happened before. It was very painful. Luckily, I had an emergency key in my car. The problem was, I couldn't use it being with my son.
I could hardly tolerated the pain while driving. Luckily, the gas station was not far and I used the emergency key in washroom.
I can't imagine what possible Could I have done if a key wasn't with me.
I think the problem was in cold temperature and phisical activity combined.

I guess this is why it is called an emergency key.

I have that on a more regular basis. When it is really bad and I can get privacy I find cupping a warm hand around the sack for 1-2minutes will relax them enough to release the pressure.

It turns out it was a bit worse than I thought. The little cuts have turned into 2 one inch long scabs and the bruising is staying blue.

I should listen to my body more quickly next time I think.

Hope you heal up quick. Thanks for sharing. I guess I always wondered if I was weak for keeping an emergency key but I'll take your experience as proof that it's a necessity. We keep it a tiny envelope with a wax seal and that fits nicely in my wallet.

Yes, in this reality, you need an emergency key.

A few years back, with my keyholder out of town, I ended up going to emergency for an appendectomy. Luckily, I had an emergency key sealed in an envelope.

    She approved of its use.

Just have your KH hide one in you place. I’d tape one under a drawer or some other obscure place.

Great advice @Weeble . I expect those sores will heal up quickly. Our approach is I don’t know where the key is (somewhere in the house) but ICE she will tell me where to find it, and then finds a new hiding place afterwards. If travelling away from home overnight I’ll take a key in a sealed envelope.

Using no emerency-key is just idiocy. It might be even worse than practicing BDSM wihout a keyword.

As for storing methods there are a lot of them. Here some which have ot been mntiond before:
    - depending on what kind of key you use: Drill a small hole (2mm is enough) through the bit of your key. Putting a cable sea through the key will render i useless unless removed. Just make sure that the hole itself will not render your key useless.
    - get yourself a key organiser that you can secure with a seal

I don't know.... I'm 65 and haven't had a medical or other emergency that would have required having an emergency key in the course of my life. My wife allows me to remove the cage whenever I need to for cleaning or the rare irritation. It's secured with a small padlock that can be removed with a small bolt cutter if necessary. I'm guessing it wouldn't be too hard to break the lock. Neither my wife or I have been too overly concerned. But that doesn't mean SOMETHING couldn't happen. Keeping track of an emergency key and making sure it hasn't been used really doesn't seem worth the trouble. I'm wearing a plastic, polycarbonate cage so it could probably also be removed without too much difficulty.

My Mistress lives too far away for her to have both keys. The one i have is kept in a small plastic container in the freezer, therefore i must thaw before i get to use it.
I always need her permission and ask for it. Like everything there are exceptions and she is ok with that as long as I inform her.
