For self lockers and remote/internet lockers, you'll do it yourself. But if you and your keyholder are present, who closed the padlock and seals your fate? Do you have to do it yourself or does your keyholder want to do it? Personally, my Key Mistresses does both. Sometimes She makes a big deal out of putting it on and locking, others She gets lazy and makes me do it all. Either way She always checks the security by giving a little pull and says "there, all safe and secure now" What's others experiences?
I normally put on my cage and lock it my self, with her supervision than hand her the key. When it comes to removing the cage she normally unlocks it and I remove it. Removing my cage isn’t something that happens a lot so it’s not a big deal like a ceremony

The point I was trying to make, but failed after reviewing the post, was to determine if there is a different, mentally, between having the Keyholder lock or being made to lock yourself. Yes I agree. Had the security screw option on my queens keep but after a while it comes loose. I tried the old PTFE tape around the thread which was OK but I have a set of micro screwdrivers and one of the small flat ones could be used to open it. So we went for the good old fashioned padlock! I could cut it off but then she'd know! And I do like the look on her face as she clicks it shut and then puts the keys into the safe!

I handle both locking and unlocking. Unlocking always with her permission, locking as an expected morning task. It's honestly an issue of practicality for us. She's tried to lock me in my cage before and the experience can be quite... frustrating. And not in the lovely chastity frustrating way but more in the "okay it's been 15 minutes can you please stop having an erection?" sort of way. Sames goes for unlocking.
