I don't see how protecting private life is any kind of justification for stealing pictures of another person and trying to pass them off as yourself.

 

The over powering fact remains that this person was a FAKE pretending to be someone else by "stealing" other's pictures weather it was in fact a Female or not for whatever twisted personal reasons or purposes. This person had not intentions of ever stopping their charade and authoritarian perceptions until L-u-cy discovered the "truth". There are never any logical justifications nor excuses for being a liar! Please stop trying to delude yourselves that there ever are.

Has it not occurred to anyone that not everyone is as suspicious of or as mistrusting as some are on here.

It seems to me that many of the actual women that do frequent this site are not saying much may well possibly be because they are; surprised and/or even shocked and quite rightly quite likely offended.
Offended that a male would pose as a female that took in both men and women and offended that their personal integrity is being brought into question because of the actions of a male.

CM will do well to recover from the implications and fall out from this event and associated revelations. I'm confident it can and the sooner the return to the more traditional CM that Lucy has instigated for us the better for CM in general.

 

Over the years I have been approached on other sites and after some back and forth I got suspicious that they were not who they said they were and did image searches along with some other tricks to ID them. Found they were originating from countries like Nigeria and stolen pics. So far I have not found this on here, but I am sure this happens everywhere. It is great that Miss Lucy is on top of this because IMO scammers and catfish can have a huge negative effect on sites.

Nor should they be deleted, It would ruin other people's posts and threads. This is a legacy site.

Also many of the posts are quite harmless and unobjectionable. The main problem was in conduct and PMs and chat etc.

They are an object lesson to us all.

I must admit I haven't checked, but when MS posts are viewed in threads is it indicated to the left that the user was banned? I think that's important.

 

Not that I can see. When MS was first banned by Jens backalong the ban was self-evident as there was a strike through the username. But this has not been done here. IMO it would be better if it were. Some time ago MS raised a question about bans generally, which I took therefore literally, or to refer MS's prior ban by Jens. In fact what MS was referring to was what was actually a suspension, of which I had been wholly aware, and thus replied to the post in a manner in which I should not have done had I known the true situation.

Bans are very rare on CM The one which first sprang to my mind was @lipsticky, banned years ago by MW. I could never quite work out why. Maybe someone who knows can tell me!

I guess a few of the hardest pills to swallow about all this is the longevity of the con, the character portrayed, and to literally add insult to injury...the polarizing nature given.

If the character were not of such long standing, so very outspoken, and quite frankly someone that liked to stir the pot...this wouldn’t be anything more than a blip on the screen. I could go through some posts and feel confident I could snap up a dozen obviously fake members, mostly male that I’m sure didn’t set off just my bullshit detector. We are upset by the fact it was such a long and real con. Upset that their opinion carried weight, and upset that we let ourselves be fooled.

Verification is a nice idea on a voluntary basis, and give weight to a members credibility. As long as it doesn’t create more issues like members and guests using it as a search tool to hound females, pros selling selling their services, or any disrespect to those who choose not to go through verification. I know my kh is very nervous about even the photos I’ve shared of her, and they only showed her key, body, and partial face. She is very real, but I guarantee she would never agree to a full facial pic just to get a banner that proved it (although she has also not logged in very often either anymore).

As much as it seems to upset some here that she may have been a he...that is just pride and embarrassment. Did you think you shared a special guy/girl moment that you are now wondering about? Did you take the cage off and wank to a...DUDE? So you might have been talking to, taking advice from, or fantasizing about a guy instead of a gal from Scotland. You will survive, and chances are, it will happen again.

LUCY seemed to have stated it well earlier that this isn’t the end of the world, it’s a learning experience and hope we have.

I do not yet see a strike through MS's name on OP or any other of MS's posts on it. When Jens banned her (or him!) there was such a strike through, even though the thread continued regardless. And when Jens removed the ban, the strike through the name disappeared also.

 

Lawks! I never knew that. And I must say I quite liked her. In view of what's happened now I suppose it is too late to invite her back?

I don't know if it's been 100% established that Ms. Amanda was male. My favourite scenario, now that I've seen the pics she sent me in a totally different context, is that she's probably a little old lady in her late-eighties having the time of her life and creating mayhem and havoc. The truth may be somewhat drabber, we'll probably never know. What wasn't fake was the intelligence and sharp wit. There's no way of stealing that.

Being the somewhat self-deprecating type that I am, I find it kind of amusing that I was deceived so easily. In the end nobody was really hurt by it, except maybe the women whose pictures she nicked. She did a pretty amazing job - I still think of her as 'she' - strung us all out for close to a decade, which isn't easy to do. I still laugh to myself whenever I think of the time she scolded me for suggesting that she must have called herself 'Mascara Snake' because she loved Captain Beefheart. I quickly learned it was a flower.

I wonder if she looks like Clark Kent? No, I like the little old lady image better, training us boys to control ourselves.

I joined this site largely because of Ms. Amanda, well her and Mistress Lucy and Mistress Jules. I can't say I regret any of it really.
