It’s really loud. Loud as in “is there a goddamn airplane taking off?!” when it’s doing the final spin. And I don’t know why. Nobody believes me until they hear it. Any help? Is it haunted?
Most likely the bearings have worn out. Do a search on the web with your machine's mfg and model number and there will be a video on how to change them out. Good luck.
The round ball bearing are enclosed in a collar that has a rubber wheel, shaft, and housing that bolts to the frame of your washer.
Before you call the repairman, just check that the feet are properly adjusted, and there's either clear space all around or the hoses are secured to, or away from the machine. If the machine is rocking on two opposite corner' s feet it will make more noise, which can also come from loose hoses tapping the back, or the machine itself knocking the wall or anything else next to it
Also check replacement costs if washer is more than ten years old. Repairs can sometimes not be worth the cost in long run. Altho calling a repairman gives you a chance to perhaps meet a cute guy.
Search YouTube how to open your machine. Some are stabilized by springs and some front load are stabilized by concrete weights held by pins. If any of these detach or get lose, it will think really loud. If it’s more high pitch squeal, probably bearing.
I felt that outcome was imminent but didn't want to bum you out. Good news is that the newer machines can be more energy efficient. I'm sure you'd rather be shopping for something else on Black Friday Sales (shoes are my choice,) but hope you get a good deal.
So it's done and the bearing of your machine has finally given up the failure. You can see what most likely happened in the picture. https://www-user.tu-chemnitz.de/~heha/basteln/Haus/Waschmaschine/WM01.jpg "Old" washing machines, that is, without an invert motor or direct motor use a V-belt for drive. Above or below there are weights and these are attached to the drum with springs or belts. This "calms" the running of the machine when it starts spinning. The loud sounds were already a sign that these belts or springs have come off or were defective. After that, your machine has probably either torn off the V-belt or this has jumped down, so this now no longer runs. Unfortunately, the repair by a specialist is usually not worth it, because the effort for disassembly, assembly and replacement of the belt usually means more than 2 hours of work and thus the labor is so expensive that you can immediately buy a new machine. If you do it yourself, it is worth it, because the spare parts cost less than 40 euros, so about 50$. When buying a new machine, make sure that you have an inverter motor in the machine, or even better a direct drive. With direct drive, the motor sits directly on the drum, which increases the service life enormously. Inverter motors have the advantage that they are very quiet. Our washing machine that we have since this year new, after 20 years it was simply time for a new, has a direct motor. Nevertheless, we thought at the first operation, which is broken, because you have not heard
