Has anyone tried it? Is it totally secure?

I haven't tried it, but rest assured that nothing is totally secure.

Best you can hope for is something that will require waiting for an amazon delivery, should you lack the right tool in the toolbox.

I have the security screw and I'd say it's pretty secure. It uses what I believe to be a proprietary screwhead, which are three small holes in a triangle shape. Compared to Mature Metal, who use a hex screwhead, the BAWRPRO screwhead seems significantly less prone to becoming stripped.

My BAWRPRO also allows the screw to sit more flush, as there's a special, circular seating that it screws into. The Mature Metal security screw did not have a similar seating, so the screw sat directly against the cage, which might allow a pair of pliers to grip the sides of the screwhead if one were so inclined.

I have the screw. It is secure. You would need to make a tool to the screw head if you want out. I’ve heard of some buying metal toothpicks and using two of them and a set of pliers. Either way, it’s going to take thought and planning to do it. The screw head helps lock everything in place, there is no movement between the cage and the ring.

It should also be noted that you can purchase a replacement key anytime through the BAWR site.
