If you wish to "direct things at me" you can always just write.
@Madamebellestoy is right. I was removed from the moderator pool some time ago now by the new Admin.
I am still able to help if people are having problems (not technical ones) with the site.
In this case I am unable to help since I no longer have access to the moderator area.
When I got banned I just waited for about a year until i was allowed back.

 

Hasn't @Administrator been MIA since June?

 

I swear I saw he was on the other day. Sad he has become indifferent about the site.

 

Also worrying given that he is effectively paying for the site to exist. If he is no longer involved it is going to be a risk that the forum could disappear altogether.

There's nothing anyone can do (apart from Jens) so not much point worrying.

While the ultimate decision is the site owners. People can try and make a case to attempt to influence him
Speaking up and suggesting he give (or sell) the site to someone who cares and will take care of it may help. Making him aware that the site is important to many and still loved might resonate and help.

Doing nothing is the worst thing as it implies people don’t care and won’t step up.

I don’t know about anyone else but if he will turn over control of the site, I’m sure we could find the right person or people to take care of it and treat it properly.

Now if we can’t appeal to his sense of pride and love of the site then yea there’s not much else that can be done.

 

In his absence, Administrator has already effectively and unwittingly turned over control of the site.

Or to be precise, those members of it who feel they need the control.

 

Well @tomf_22033 its funny you say that ... I was thinking of / asked about buying the site back when the current owner (Jens) was already is discussion to purchase it. I have remained in contact with him about the site and have again recently asked if it has become time for him to pass the torch. However as others have already stated communication seems to go unanswered. So, I'm hopeful that should the current owner not lose complete interest at some point and that the site does not go down as it did during the last transition from one owner to the next that he will return or choose to past the torch. I have offered to host the site on my server in the past to at a bare minimum prevent non-payment from causing the site to go down.

 

I just think it's sad that someone who "owns" the site isn't involved. If they aren't going to be active then sell it or transfer ownership to someone(s) that will. But it seems I'm preaching to the choir!

I'm not sure what money Jens could possibly hope to earn from this - he's stated several times that he's not interested in that.
The foot-fall here isnt enough (IMO) for it to be of interest to the likes of Vertical Sore (a serial buyer of popular membership content generation sites), and he is still paying the bills. I do think it's sad that he doesnt seem interested in running the place, but there does seem to be a curse put on forum owners.
I've seen it time and again, someone buys a forum, or starts one, and within 2 years they hit their boredom level or find a new interest.

No solutions, but I do hope he's ok. In the mean time it would be sensible for us to behave as if he's reading everything and is only just around the corner.

No. His ex-wife's dad fell off the mortal coil which precipitated enough refocusing to bring about their divorce.
That sort of thing sometimes makes people change their priorities a bit. He's still less than a year into it the poor sod, so pain in the bum though it is for us here I can more or less forgive him his absence.

 

Simple question.
How many would pay membership to keep the site moving forward?
I have seen post asking admin ( Who pays the bills ) to hand the site over to someone who has the time and energy.
The site does not run on time and energy alone. How many would be willing willing to put there money where there mouth is?

So how many would pay a membership fee?

 

Although Admin hasn't logged in recently, he does still pay for the site support and it still ticks along. It doesn't disappear for days on end like it used to and for that, we should at least thank him.
