I wouldn't say it is becoming more common- it is probably exceptionally rare. I can't imagine how bad a relationship goes where the husband having occasional, even if rare fun is such a chore that you want to go the route of a surgical procedure that will have permanent long lasting negative implications. This isn't common at all. I have had orchiectomy surgery, and no loving partner would force a guy into it. And it definitely doesn't make guys as docile as you think, that's just a myth. Not only am I still more than capable of being a total asshole, but I took up boxing and can give an ass whoopin if necessary. "Piercing only" cages are THE solution to a number of issues: * Erections are possible, eliminating some KH's concerns about negative health effects on the erectile tissue. At the same time, nocturnal erections are no longer a problem. * Almost complete security, pulling out is not possible. * No restrictions on activities where Balltrap devices simply interfere (sports, physical work, cycling, ...). Therefore, for me, cages of this type are the gold standard.
If you take them out totally, you can't go back. Supposed "permanent" chastity using a device can be reversed although it might take a little work. I've posted a story about tthat.

i have a spermotocel (?) that blocks the flow of sperm from one testicle which has grown large (think potato) and heavier. The other has shriveled in size. i can only wear the shaft style PA cages.I recently replaced my plastic evotion cage with a steel one. The pastic one could be worn for long periods but plastics start to smell after time. The weight of the steel one does pull on the head making it sore. Not seeing anyone currently but when i was teased my balls would ache to the point of having an ultrasound done. I am primarily oral anyway and would be concerned about losing desire but if i had a life partner that wanted it done - and could get someone qualified to do - i would consider. Afaik, laws prevent this and doctors will not risk the license to practice. When i had the ultrasound done, i was seeing a domme and we discussed it. I was never going to have sex so it wasn’t a big deal so whatever was best health wise but the chastity device would stay. I personally prefer the mental chastity cage but in the meantime i will use the steel PA style cage. Not into cross dressing but I might have to look into some control panties so i am not trying to fly cast a pound of steel every time i roll over in bed.
