First, please post a link to your cage. I am not able to locate it. I would not recommend using the tube starting out. Those take special precautions. Are you using a long lasting lube around the ring and bottom side of the cage? Baby oil gel and silicone gel like JO work well. Many partners start out very, very vanilla. Not all, but many, seem to accept it and then thrive. Beyond what you might expect. Once they are in control, and you have to let them control at their own pace, they might surprise you. Surprise you in unexpected ways. It is not easy to present the concept to your wife. First, you have to decide what your motivation is. Are you looking for chastity play, or a FLR? Thank you for your input. I had trouble with the previous cage being a solid ring base. I have rather large testicles and am "high and tight" so they really protruded through the ring outward. The new one I ordered has a split ring and I got the largest offered, 50 mm. If you go to Amazon and type in Ternence chastity cage it will bring it up. I would link it but not sure if it is allowed. I didn't try any lubricant with the other one but did try baby powder.

Hinged rings can cause pinching. Some have slipped a bit of surgical tubing over the hinge with good results. Try some long lasting lube, that should help a lot.
