I'm sure everyone here must know about the issues with the cell ate remote locking chastity device.

However, in case you don't it's not just that it's security (cyber) is poor and can be easily hacked, it's the access to personal data too and - actually the worst threat, that if the company goes under, the database goes down with it and all devices become unlockable.

If you own one read here -

    Just saying.

Didn't this happen about a year ago and ransom was being paid by some people. It was either pay up or break the device to get it off.

Yes, that happened. The company has never fixed the vulnerability since though and still markets the cell mate.
I figure not everyone contemplating it anew will be aware of the situation.
Also, even if the vulnerabilities are fixed the risk of the company going bust is big too. They go bust, the App disappears, anyone currently locked is trapped in the device.
Their reluctance to deal with those who flagged this up BEFORE the hackers got in (three separate cyber security bodies told them of the vulnerability) does nothing to make anyone feel happier.
Just making sure folks contemplating it are aware of the background.
The reports also show a surprising lack of attention to cyber security by fetish related companies in general too, which is worth thinking about.

Oh, and the hackers also gained personal data from everyone in a device including full name, phone number, card details of purchaser, address, location device was locked, pin numbers etc, so not just a ransom for unlocking.

    Just hoping this helps someone.

I bought one as She was very interested in the remote lock unlock side fo things for cleaning (I am allowed two minutes) However, it was very poor quality when we got it in terms of connection so we sent it back. had a refund straight away as they were just recalling them. When I saw it was Made in China that put me off straight away. She now wants me locked in steel. Better for both of us.

I like some of the the idea of this, but both husband and I thought of the same potential problems. One thing nobody mentioned is when they have a glitch or crash, he's trapped in it until it's fixed.

There's no provision for emergency release.

The thing that really bothers me is once I set the time, I can't change it. WAIT. I'M the Keyholder. I decide when he gets let out.

Absolutely, and as I mentioned, if the company goes bust that's the app down for ever! It was already reported to be low on finances. Their attitude when institutions tried to warn them of the vulnerabilities was astoundingly bad!

Well, it appears Qiui have developed an upgrade.
I'm not totally familiar with the original Cell Mate, but the Cell Mate 2 has a number of new features, even though the design is basically the same. The addition of an electrical shock feature is interesting!
It also looks like you can bypass the app by using an automatic lock timer.
