I saw this earlier and I think it must refer to chastity devices, I can't think of anything else metal that would set off alarms. Could be good news for some.

Not sure why they are equating chastity devices with trans and non gender people though.

I guess they consider us non-binary, non-sexual or something?

It is probably also due to genital piercings.

I think it may also relate to prosthetics some people may have.

Maybe, but they did talk about alarms in "sensitive areas". I read that as "private areas".

Not clear how they are going to handle that better.

I always have to laugh when someone passes through security and produces an item that could have caused the alarm, and they just wave them on. Of course that completely defeats the point of the security checkpoint.

That is what I mean about prosthetics. In Private areas hence why it relates to Trans people.

I wish it did relate to chastity devices but I think it’s probably prosthetics.

Chastity devices are a possibility, but as a transgender woman I have heard many stories from other trans women about being searched because of the "unexpected" bulges in their groin during body scans. If you're a transgender woman that passes very well and you body scan shows atypical characteristics for a woman, you could be searched.

This text does not mentioni "metal" with any word - so it is extected that this update will be for those non metal detectors.
And as sheperdsflock already stated it is almost certainly about unexpected "bodyparts" or implants that could be automatically ruled out as security risk.

I don't think this has anything to do with chastity devices.

OMG! I just realized that you’re transgender @Shepherdsflock ! I’ve looked at your pictures a few times already and always thought, ‘wow he really seems to like his wife for putting up so many pictures of her, and by the way she looks really hot!’

    Amazing! You look great!

(Sorry for going off topic folks)

I was pulled up once and I just told the guy what it was. He waved his wand over my crotch and just laughed really loudly and waved me on.

Decades ago, we had decided to “opt out” of going through the full-body scanner machines. We were used to the manual pat-down searches. We gave ourselves extra time, as sometimes you had to wait for an agent. This was well before I was pierced or caged. We know they don’t use ionizing radiation. Our decision was based on personal privacy rather than health concerns.

We were polite and patient, and they were always professional, honored our decision. No one is fondling or groping you.

There have been a lot of advances in the last two decades. They don’t have an operator staring at raw millimeter wave images, like this.

    9D4824D2-4BE8-457A-AE5C-1BCAA91A509A.jpeg

Even so, with a few decades of training and awareness, airport security (like the TSA) must have gained a proper survey and sample of males and females that present differently than the gender assigned at birth.

This does not mean they won’t trigger on chastity cages.

This article seems more about not calling aside female-presenting males out for having male genitalia, not male-presenting women… or any interesting mix inbetween.

This is a good thing. But I don’t expect security folk to be driven by any new social awareness, but by the simple drive to be efficient. False positives require more staff for secondary screening.

We who wear chastity devices have an option to remove them. Asking one to strip away their gender identity is not viable.

That said, chastity wearers may be a secondary beneficiary of the human training and machine learning gained over two decades of millimeter imaging.

Recently, I had to go through the body-scanner on the return to my home country.

The advanced imaging technology did not remark upon my MCN GlansArmor. It’s shaft only, low mass, and less than 2” long. The image being shown to the operator did not look like this.

    58E016B8-2334-4E0A-B9AF-5125FCEA433E.jpeg

I glanced over the operator’s shoulder as I waited for my wife to pass screening and I saw something that looked more like this.

    E40C9BA0-B9F3-425F-8D8F-DC03D45A4158.jpeg

With automated target recognition, fed by our countless images to train machine learning algorithms, I am sure some of us brave chastity wearers helped them obtain a more complete training set.

Maybe AIT’s ATR-algorithm is trained well enough to distinguish a caged penis from a threatening object now.

But this is primarily about acknowledging the existence of transgender and non-binary people in their training and algorithms. Their existence is a fact.

But it’s fun to think my traveler number has a database entry for “Male. Pierced: Prince Albert, 2ga. Caged: Steel, Small (<6cm)”.

But I know that’s silly fantasy. “Where’s your cage? Did you steal Peter Rabbit’s identity?” ;)

I think this demonstrates why the relative mainstreaming of chastity would be a good thing for us. The panopticon is closing in!

It's certainly not as critical as it is for trans folk, but - for example - I've worn my sealed chastity device for over 15 months. It is part of my identity, and it seems a shame that terrorists have taken away my ability to be myself.

I fly a lot and simply take mine off and wear a plastic one. End come off for security and goes back on. I have a time limit from mistress. Last week in Dubai I went without the cage for 24 hours as I was working airside Nat airport. They would not understand over there. It’s not worth the hassle

I personally am with you on that note. I certainly "get" long term wear. But the hassle can't be worth it in my mind.
