Most security metal detectors are set to detect larger metal objects otherwise they would alert to so many things they would be useless. The unlikely chance that it’s found and they want to see it, just own it like a boss. If they are anything less than professional, ask if they get their gay jollies looking at cocks. Have a few quips ready and rehearse it a bit and it will reduce any anxiety. Most will assume it’s a zipper and move on because they are afraid of finding something weird.
I agree most detectors aren't that sensitive. But some are. I seem to set them off every time, based on my knee replacement. Could you remove it before boarding and have her lock you up after your on board?
Done the cruise with the Steelworxx tube. They have metal detectors but I just told the guy I had personal jewelry, he wanded the area vaguely and let me through. There might be a little embarrassment which could be your goal, but it is unlikely to stop you enjoying the cruise, just it'll stop you enjoying some activities on the cruise, as intended.
I had a run in with a metal detector this week. My Jailbird did set off the alarm and I was prepared to give my spiel to the security officer but he said it was probably my belt buckle. He waved me down with his wand and let me through. Definitely created a bit of anxiety for me but Me Lovely got a kick out of it. The cruise should be fun but be prepared to go through the metal detector at every port.

I have found that, while cruise ships have metal detectors, they don't have a very professional staff operating them and its more like they go thru the motions. I wouldn't worry about it.
