Thanks @incs100 The answer is in the first line - "already has more than 'max_user_connections' active connections" - the system has more people wanting access than was anticipated! Following the change of ownership the numbers either logging in or just looking in from the outside has been building up steadily and we need to be looking at our server account - or moving server as @Administrator mentioned last month. We seem to be busier than ever with more posts each day and members really engaging in the forum now that we have the security of knowing the site won't disappear for a week or more at a time. Hoepfully we will get sorted soon and these slight glitches will be a thing of the past. Success brings its' own problems!
The number of "Guests" in the Mini Chatbar seems pretty much the same as the number of people it says are online at any time. In fact it is saying there are 124 people online just now with 102 or thereabouts in the chatbar As far as I know the chatbar uses a different server - but I stand to be shot down on that one - I am sure I will be LOL And not many of them seem to be engaging with members - well not me anyway apart from one this morning, who I knew anyway
No, you can see who is who, bottom left of screen (on a PC) shows members guests and web crawlers. Bots makes up less than 20% generally. The rest are lurkers.

Despite the error, it's great to see the rise in usage. Male chastity really is growing in popularity and practice, I'm seeing so many first time user reviews by women of chastity devices sold on Amazon. Perhaps one day soon it'll be as mainstream to couples as a pair of fuzzy handcuffs is today and CM is leading the way. Kudos!
I still think the "guests" on the chat are mostly bot's... 1011 "people" in chat, adn only about 10 of them are members, the rest are guests?? I really don't think so.
Jemima, that error is due to the overwhelming load on the CM server, when the "guest" count goes way up the error will come back.
I'm still getting the error. I hope the good folks behind CM find a way to alleviate the server load, perhaps limit guests from chats.

I my be missing something ... but ... The issue seems to be focused around the "gallery" and the "number of users" or the "delayed" option ... So just for arguments sake I will agree that there is a lot of new traffic and that most of it is "guests" as seen in this example (Total: 82 (members: 11, guests: 53, robots: 18) taken when I was writing this post ... I think that the "guest" number is an error (either in the software not auto logging them out after X amount of time ... or some sort of "bot" meaning anything from Google (legit) to aggressive spiders ( https://searchenginewatch.com/sew/news/2067357/bye-bye-crawler-blocking-parasites) But lets say everything is actually legit ... I would think that "guests" should not be able to see the Gallery, that they would actually have to be a member and that if only members can see the gallery then there would not be a "number of users" issue. Further more 100 people on the site should not be causing sql issues ... Now if it is as simple as the host that CM is currently on is that restrictive with traffic and CM is moving to a less restrictive server (more bandwidth)... then that is 110% an acceptable answer, anf hope that it can happen soon. For example there are currently 30+ "guests" (not members) in chat that are "asleep" ... the chat should be auto logging them out after X time asleep.
