Not sure where this should go so I put it here. First off good luck to Mike and his family as he tries to get back on track and move forward making devices. That said, I modified my Lori 5 after breaking a 0 ga pin. (Whole different story) I realized there would be no way to get any repair. So I cut off the bottom block where screw goes into pin and locks. Lightened device by quite a bit, so that's a plus. Modified hole so that I can use a 2 ga tribal ring to secure device. came out very nice and is comfortable to wear. Could be a new way of wearing a #5.
Nice work! I can imagine exactly what you describe. I credit you for my getting some Stainless Steel Tribal Dream Rings made by Wildcat. I really enjoyed them. Traume Aus Edelstahl makes a similar item, smooth all around, or changing thicknesses if you like. I’d love to hear the separate story on how the pin broke.
Thanks Peter for commenting. I may post pics after final polishing is complete. Broke the pin by being stupid and doing something I would tell everyone never to do. You know how hefty a 0 ga pin is. It was pinching down on bottom of meatus so I decided to bend it to the shape I wanted to make it more comfortable. I knew I should heat it to cherry and slowly move it BUT I just put in the vice and tried to bend it cold. I heard the snap of the weld and said 'T you stupid bastard, you know better'. It was a case of doing something totally stupid while knowing better. That's my story and I'm sticking to it....lol
Nice work Thundar. I second the good luck directed at Mike and hope there is a way forward. Also I've noticed some ramblings about Lori being back open. Can anyone confirm? I may just attempt to make contact but am hoping some veteran CM members might have details. Maybe I missed a post somewhere? I too would like to make some mods to my device, again , and the local jeweler isnt a good place to take it, they might look at me funny lol.
