I am looking at getting a new cage because I want to go shorter, and I'd like to try a different style (shape) ring too.
For the style/shape I am looking at I have the option of either a regular padlock or Magic locker...I'd love for people to weigh in. My only concern is visibility when wearing dress pants in the office. I have always worn models with magic locks until now, and the only thing keeping me from giving the padlock models a shot is the worry of visibility.

    Thoughts, anyone?

Not a fan of the padlock.

My mature metal one had a padlock and I did manage to find a master lock that fit perfectly, but some others were very loose and caused the post a certain amount of play. Just the slightest amount of room on one side more than the other can lead to a ball popping out when sitting etc.

As far as discreet? That mature metal one that just fit right, was able to stay sideways at the top of the post, but looser ones would migrate to land on top of cage flat and was majorly pointy. It also tended to Knick and scratch skin that might be exposed.

For what it’s worth, I think the integrated lock is nice for the kh, no edges, easy to use, and better to conceal.

Other problem with padlocks is the clacking sound they make when you walk. Depending, this could get loud. I have the problem with a metal Bon4 and metal padlock. Very off putting for me.

You can try wrapping it in electrical tape or even giving it coat of Plasti-Dip.

Not every maker offers the option of a "magic lock" including Bon4. Steelworxx does but it's like a €90 option.

I use a Cable lock for luggage :) it can have the code changed and seems to be really flexible so i don't have this massive padlock bulge.

I put electrical wire “heat shrink” on both pieces of padlock. Makes very little sound now, even when running!
