Locks and water damage. (And a milestone for me!)

So after about 10 weeks of trying to sleep with my cage on I have finally gotten used to it. I can now go full days without having to remove my cage. Didn't realize it would take so long, but users here told me that it was a question of time and experience. So, a milestone for me.

Anyways, now I don't want to take it off for showers. Should I be worried about water damaging the locks? I use devices with that tiny lock that goes inside the device (not a padlock).

    Thanks in advance!

No water will not damage it but unless you have a very open cage you will need to remove it to clean between the folds of you skin. I am no expert but at least every couple weeks.

Water shouldn’t cause that much damage, but to minimise it even more, you can put a condone over your complete cage when showering. I have found that with padlocks, the main damage is from splash back when urinating, and this can cause a lot of corrosion to the lock.

Very glad I found this thread, as the same sort of question occurred.

Hopefully this applies to the HT style locking mechanisms also (expect so)?
I should think yes, as they are even more "protected" given their more integral nature (when installed).

Might be a different story if one went for a swim in salt water naturally.

@sis_nikki I have been locked up for a few weeks now and water has not affected the locking mechanism at all.

I always wear the cage and padlock unprotected in the shower, and have often gone for a swim in the sea... never had a problem with the lock. If you rinse off the soap and/or salt from your body, the same action rinses it from the lock if any did go inside.

If a lock ever did fail, the small standard locks on chastity devices are not strong, both types can easily be broken open.

I have a padlock locking my shed door. It gets the worst of the elements here - rain, more rain, heavy rain, sun, dust, snow and there's no problem. I just put some lubricant in it once a year. I don't think a daily shower and drying it will have any adverse effect.

Fours years full-time, simple brass Master lock. Salt water, showers, pool water. None seem to affect it. The shank has a bit of rust, but it opens and unfortunately, closes just fine.

Showering, pools, and hot tubs don't impact the lock at all. The only problem I have encountered is with the barrel locks and the ocean. Got dumped and ended up with a ton of sand in the crotch and it got into the lock and would no longer work. We drilled the lock out, so if we do go to the ocean I am either free or wear a cage when we can use a padlock.
