I fully understand your nervousness. I can remember going through a very similar process when my Mistress named me DonnaSue and I ws stuck on Kathy (You can obviously see who won that discussion! HA) You are correct that all of us subs need an Owner to make those kind of decisions (and in fact ALL DECISIONS) for us.!
