I'm modding a couple of Chinese Cage's and would like some input on Gap because I keep getting chaffing at the base of the penis did a search but didn't find what I was looking for.
This is the most elusive dimension to get answers on. I'm going through this with Mature Metal right now. All the advice they offer is - normal scrotum 3/8" high and tight 1/2" stretched 1/4" I started with 3/8", but am getting it expanded to 1/2" due to the burning issue. MM did tell me they make gaps as big as 3/4".

I found the gap to be my problem area. The standard gap most often used is 1/4", if I recall. I was having problems with my cage being too tight and I naturally thought it was due to having too small a ring. When I called Mature Metal and described my problem, I was told that I needed a larger gap. So I sent my Jailbird in and they increase the gap to 1 1/2 inches and that did the trick. I had my Jailbird made according to the measurements of my 3 off the shelf devices but as I learned when I got my Holy Trainer v.2, a different shaped ring may be larger or smaller than what you were using with another device. I do not know if there is a set way to measure gap size. At least MM did not have one and I went with their standard gap. A quarter of an inch increase made a world of difference. I had also bought a metal cage from China but it was not comfortable for long term 24/7 wear. I could not find one that had all the exact measurements in all the areas I needed it to be. A lot also has to do with the design of the device you buy. The Jailbird locks in the middle so too small a gap will pinch my scrotum at the middle. Too large a gap can allow your testicles to escape when they tighten up. I sometimes used to wake up with my device completely off of me. It amazed me how small a space my boys could squeeze through without hurting me.
