    My experience in my marriage is that women seem to share a lot of "details" not just with close family members, but also with close female friends.

    Mine too. Which is why I told my wife not to tell two of her married friends. I don't think her friends would really care but invariably they'll tell their husbands, and I don't need those guys freaking out. I'm pretty sure one of her best friends knows, but that friend wouldn't share or even comment on it without my permission.
