Hello everyone, I’m new to the whole chastity scene, and have a question about an “open” device vs a closed device. I started this journey with a Holy Trainer V4 knockoff, and a CB-6000s knock off devices because I like and kinda want a closed tube type device, because they completely remove any type of touching/sensations while wearing them, not even feeling your underwear touching you down there. I like not feeling anything at all while wearing them, which is what I’m looking for. With the V4 knock off I get some skin pinching going on where the tube slides into the base ring, however, I really like the tube design on the V4, it completely covers everything, but there is still enough room at the end to use the bathroom. On the 6Ks, I like the way the ring goes on better than the V4’s, however with the vent holes on the tube, I get skin that squishes out and gets sore after a day of wearing it, and the hole at the tip is almost to big, when blood starts to flow down there I find quite a bit of skin pushes out of the tube and then it does rub on my underwear and that gets kinda painful. I’ve been looking at the cherry keeper cages with the no touch designs, but the sizing seems rather confusing to me on their site. I’ve been looking at metal cages for long term wear, but they are all “open” type designs, which I do understand is for hygiene reasons as compared to a closed tube design. my question for those of you who do wear the open type metal cages, do you still get a lot of physical touch sensations while wearing your device? It seems to me it would be rather simple to still get off with that type of cage on vs a closed tube. Thank you for any input.
Today is my first full seven days in a steel birdcage ish style cage after a week in a fully enclosed resin one. Personally I like the steel cage way better for long term wear. Though abit heavier I like it allows some air in and way easier to clean. Also where I dress left the resin cage was always pulling that way whereas the steel has enough weight to keep everything in the center so I find that far more comfortable. As far as sensations go in this particular device only the head is really exposed any at all so they're basically existent. I could purposely rub the head if I wanted but that's about it. I guess if I were locked for extremely long times that may do something for me but otherwise just see it causing frustration more then anything.
I think you need an open cage to be able to wear it for longer times. I started with a Holtrainer (completely closed) and while comfortable my skin was peeling off after a few days! Because it was always a bit damp in there, from sweat or the shower, and it's just not good for the skin. I think the ideal device would be really "open" at the shaft where you have the normal skin, and then really closed at the glans. Because 1) the glans doesn't mind being in a damp environment (after all, this is the natural state inside the foreskin!) and 2) this is place where you really want to avoid having access for touching. I haven't seen any designs though that are minimalist at the shaft and closed at the head!
I also wonder which I'd enjoy more. I have a Vice, a mostly closed plastic tube with plastic rings. I wonder whether I should have gotten metal. But I really do love my Vice. I wear it weeks at a time without coming out for any reason. I can easily clean myself and the cage while wearing it. I think it's a bit heavier than a metal one, but I like the weight. I have a BAW open cage (w/ PA) that I can wear indefinitely. I can’t imagine doing that with a closed device, plastic or metal. I wear a closed cage in 3d printed material. Its more work to keep clean, but it prevents skin bulging out, which I despise. The light weight is amazing. I would consider titanium as the only alternative. Stainless is too heavy in my case.

I’m in an “open design” steel cage.. Mainly for wearing g comfort and hygiene.. I can clean everything and everywhere without taking the cage off. Where an enclosed cage would always require removal for cleaning every now and then. For me, enforced chastity can only be real when there is no-way-out and no release for the set time. Personally I think it depends on the expected length of your lock up. For short periods of up to a day without being taken off and cleaned, then enclosed cages are great. For extended lock ups without removing the cage for cleaning, my experience is that an open cage is much easier to facilitate personal hygiene and frankly less smelly. I have experience of well over 20 types of cages and finally settled on a tube type cage with fairly open bars, worn with a supporting strap. My personal preference is for metal. I think it's a psychological thing. Metal just seems more secure. Hope that's useful.
