My position about exposing security personnel to chastity and whatever have you is that it is their problem. It is their job to be invasive, so they have to deal with whatever they encounter. That is not my problem.

Absolutely agree with the above. The end result is that it is not a threat so no matter what they will work efficiently to establish that.

I have been able to see the body scanner screen the last several times and - in the US - there has not even been a yellow box over my groin. In EU and in Mexico last year they did show a yellow box. This was followed by a quick hand wand (wand, not hand) up the inside of my leg, like 2 seconds, and sent on my merry way. I don't think I have been hand patted since Covid, not that I would care too much.

For sure the scanner "sees" it (even if SS or plastic or whatever - it can see a business card in your pocket), but clearly many are now programmed to ignore "body jewelry". Likewise airport metal detectors can "see" stainless steel and other non-ferrous metals (the PI technology used simply requires an electromagnetic pulse to travel differently through the object, not for it to become magnetized at all) and it appears many airports have increased the sensitivity of these units. I can't say why, but I trust they have good reasons (perhaps real weapons need less and less metal these days but still show up strikingly on a body scanner?).

My surprising take away is that the scanner (at least in the US) may be a better way to avoid further discussion or inspection than the metal detector or even putting something in your carry-on!

But if you do find yourself going through a metal detector, try to reduce how much other metal is on you, like take off your watch, belt, etc. I suspect that the machines decide how much metal you have, and when it reaches a certain amount, it sets off the alarm.

I found this thread very interesting as I do fly once in a while. I've red a similar thread years ago on different forum and back then someone that worked at the airport security stated - not similar but - something like: We don't prefer to spend time on false positives as at the same time we could be missing something important.
So my device is in my hand luggage and I secure myself shortly after being secured.

The body scanners used at most airports in the US can see your devices (metal and plastic) but they've been programmed to ignore them. It's not guaranteed that metal scanners will detect metal cages either, I think it's all about how MUCH metal you have on you, so if you remove as much other metal as possible (belt, wrist watch, etc) you might not set it off.

Meh I wouldn't worry too much about this thread...the majority of the posters on this site have insisted in other threads that they need an emergency key in case that have to go thru a scanner somewhere...then turn around and tell ya how many times they have gone through a scanner in the next breath and that its no sweat!...smh

I still view this thread as the OP requested: data rather than speculation. Lots of other threads on opinions if one wants.

    My updates:
YYZ Pearson/Toronto metal detector: Busted (passed hand wand).
TPA; Tampa, Metal detector: Busted sent to Scanner: Passed
    PIE, Clearwater, Metal detector, passed
DTW, Detroit, metal detector, Passed (3rd walk thru),
BER, Brandenburg, Scanner, Passed (it flagged my watch, not my crotch).

Pretty sure I'm missing a few but trend has been the same.

RE "BER, Brandenburg, Scanner, Passed (it flagged my watch, not my crotch)."

Five or six weeks ago I was stopped at Bradenburg because the scanner picked up that I had two paper napkins in my pocket that I'll forgotten to remove . The person at the scanner showed me the screen and there was red on the image were the napkins where. He was very abrupt about it and checked me over for a couple of minutes. I personally would not wear a cage while flying, but I have worn one sailing out of Dover a couple of times.

I have travelled to 21 countries and 26 States. There is no reason to stay locked while flying. I am not about to jerk off in an airplane toilet. What I do is go to men's room before flight and remove my cage. When I arrive I go back into men's room and put it back on again. Why hassle. There is no reason to stay locked when you are not in any position to masturbate. Plus if you cannot refrain from masturbating when unlocked, you may not want to get into chastity because it is well known by all that you can orgasm even when locked so why hassle with TSA???? I think some guys get hung up on fetish equipment rather than being submissive regardless of what you wear. My wife says not to orgasm so I do not orgasm, locked or not.

Again, the OP was not about opinion, but rather collecting data. Latest:

FRA, scanner: Busted. Clear yellow indication over crotch (not seen before). Quick pat down and Cleared (before my colleagues in next lanes).

I dont give a darn if you agree with us, I"m just reporting where/when/how I am flagged and what happens.

    Just got back…MM Jailbird.
JFK terminal 5, scanner no issue.
CUN (Cancun) Metal detector, no issue.

it seems some US metal detectors have been cranked up….so for work travel if I get stuck walking with colleagues, I don’t use my Pre check knowing that the scanner will juat pass me through.

I would think that if you are wearing a cage that you would be prevented from taking your flight
    but..... I REALLY DON'T KNOW....

you may just have to endure the potential embarrassment of strangers wanting to look at it more closely

I'm one of those who flies regularly and never take my cage off to go through security. I average 12 flights a year, so in the 5 years I've been caged I've been through a scanner around 120 times (round trips). Two days ago was the first time I've been searched. I went through the metal detector (Denver), pre-check. When I beeped each of 3 tries, they did a pat down. It was, I believe, a fairly new employee -- he was the most thorough I've ever had (he really pressed pretty firmly, and did every clothed inch of my body). When he felt the cage he asked what it was so I told him. He said he'd check with a supervisor. They took me to the private screening room -- it was now clear he was a newbie because the supervisor was teaching him about the procedure. They asked me if I would drop my trousers, so I did -- I have no shame or modesty, and didn't care. They saw it, said thank you, and that was that.

I got a pat down in Singapore a couple of weeks ago that was very intimate . I wasn't in a cage and they would have felt it if I was.

You need to be careful in traveling in foreign countries (outside US, Canada or Europe) for example Singapore only decriminalised gay sexual relationships less than a year ago. Maybe chastity is considered immortal and so illegal? I'm serious....

Not so, I've travelled out of Singapore wearing my Lori cage. It's a serious chunk of metal and did get picked up by the gate, but I was sent on my way after a quick show and tell in a room to the side.

That much stainless should probably trigger the metal detector each time, correct?

For the first four years I wore it, it almost never triggered the metal detectors. This past year it usually does -- I think TSA may have decided to lower the threshold (increase the sensitivity). The Contender has thin bars and is quite lightweight.

Just to be clear, do we know that there's a person somewhere in the loop, deciding where to put the squares that the security staff see?

It's done by computer. There used to also be a person watching, but once they got the software kinks worked out, they dropped that requirement. (They may still randomly have someone watching, just as a spot check.)

I noticed this as well the last time I traveled. It had never alarmed and then this time it did. It was just a pat down and then I was on my way.
