Mo matter how you feel about the Monarchy, I can think of no one who has embodied “dignity” and “sense of duty” more than the Queen. Her health seems to be declining. In a mad and chaotic world, she has been a strong and constant force for reason and rationality.

    I wish her well.

The new King will officially be known as King Charles III

A statement from the King reads:

The death of my beloved Mother, Her Majesty The Queen, is a moment of the greatest sadness for me and all members of my family.

We mourn profoundly the passing of a cherished Sovereign and a much loved Mother. I know her loss will be deeply felt throughout the country, the Realms and the Commonwealth, and by countless people around the world.

During this period of mourning and change, my family and I will be comforted and sustained by our knowledge of the respect and deep affection in which The Queen was so widely held.

The Queen's seven-decade reign was alongside 15 British and 14 US leaders. She was the UK's longest-reigning monarch and was highly respected worldwide. Here's what world leaders said immediately after the news of her death:

    • Trump hails queen's 'legacy of peace and prosperity for Great Britain'
    • France's Macron salutes Queen Elizabeth II as 'a friend of France'
    • India's Modi 'pained' by death of Queen Elizabeth II
    • Irish president calls queen 'remarkable friend of Ireland'
    • EU chief Michel salutes 'Elizabeth the Steadfast'
    • Israeli PM salutes Queen Elizabeth II, sends condolences
    • Ukraine's Zelensky says queen's death is an 'irreparable loss'
    • Biden pays tribute to queen as 'stateswoman of unmatched dignity and constancy'
    • Sri Lanka president offers 'deepest condolences' over Queen Elizabeth's death
    • Spanish PM hails Queen Elizabeth II as 'figure of global importance'
    • King of Belgians mourns 'exceptional' UK queen
    • Obama hails queen's 'legacy of tireless, dignified public service'
    • Bolsonaro declares three days of mourning in Brazil for queen

The Queen’s passing today came more than a year after that of her beloved husband Philip, her ‘strength and guide’, who died aged 99 in April 2021. Since his funeral, where you’ll remember she poignantly sat alone because of lockdown restrictions, her own health faltered, and she was forced to miss an increasing number of events mainly due to ‘mobility problems’ and tiredness.

But she was well enough to meet with Boris Johnson at Balmoral to accept his resignation, before asking the 15th Prime Minister of her reign, Liz Truss, to form a Government.

Her Majesty, who stood with the support of a stick and smiled as she greeted Ms Truss in front of a roaring fire, had not been seen in public for two months. This would be her final picture:

    HOW PATHETIC:

Sleepy, Creepy, Crazy, Perverted Uncle Joe
Caught Pulling Out a Card and Copying It in the Condolence Book for Queen Elizabeth

The Demented One is so incapacitated that his handlers had to write down his message for him on a card before he signed the condolence book.

While I don't understand the monarchy and those who are obsessed by it, I am saddened to hear about the passing of the Queen.

My thoughts and prayers go out to all who loved her, and all who are now subjects of the new King.

There is really nothing to understand. Whomever is King or Queen has no real power. They make X amount of appearances each year and speak when something happens. For doing so they get to live in a really nice place and have a ton of money. Outside of all that they bring in tourists. They are essentially England's "Worlds Biggest Ball of Yarn".

    I get all of that.

My comment was half in jest. And half serious as there is no modern need for a monarchy (except for what you state).

Plus why would anyone want to be a subject! (Again said half in jest and half seriously)

Then again, given our Jester In Chief maybe a King or Queen isn't so bad. (See contents of parens in previous sentence above )
