I personally wouldn't introduce anything cheap and Chinese into any orifice of my body let alone there. Good luck to those that are willing to take the chance, probably not even S/S never mind 316L as a basic requirement for insertion anywhere in the body !!

Thanks @maid_carrie - I put it in boiling water beforehand. Obviously I made sure it had cooled before inserting ;) I do have some anti-bacterial handwash and will just use that next time.

What about lube? I used some KY which helped insert it but made everything sticky. I don't think that is going to be good for long term wear. You just use water as a lubricant?

I'll try and do a bit every second day and increase the duration to get used to it.

    K.

@TitaniumChastiTi - I am using a Looker 02 from Steelworxx which uses a titanium alloy for the insert.

As @Wendygirl might say Noooooooo! to KY or any other lube. It's OK for in and out but not to stay in situ.

Pure clean cold water and the hand wash. Been using that method for some years with no trouble. I researched and found that the medical message was that clean is good but sterile is not necessary. It's not going that far in and it is getting washed in normally sterile urine a few times a day.

I fill the sink with enough water to cover the device - then wash it, rubbing the neat wash all over, then rinse in the water and leave it submerged (no air contact even) - give the area of insert a quick wash wish wet hands and then pluck it from the water, dripping wet, and in it pops.

There have been horror stories with guys using lube - avoid at all costs!

For hygiene, I have made good experiences with disinfection by using pure alcohol and the like. I'm not saying it's necessary but on the other hand, for people who are new to this and don't wanna take any risks (also because the risk of hurting yourself is higher when you don't know what you're doing) it's probably the safest option.

We have been using the Chinese SS cage with urethral insert now for over a year with no problems. Upon receipt we utrasinicaly clean the device after boiling in detergent and use a pipe clearer inside the tube . Then back into the ultrasonic bath with more detergent then re boil.
As I wear my device each morning for the whole day as instructed it is cleaned each night and bleached before rinsing for next morning.

Pics of the cage are on my profile album

A little update. Following the good advice received here I have used the insert without lube. And it was fine. I just took my time putting the device on (and getting the insert in). I felt much more comfortable leaving it in for longer without the feel and thought of the sticky lube. I have used it twice so far in this manner each time for about 4 hours. I didn't feel brave enough to wear during the night or away from home just yet. It was an unusual feeling but not unpleasant. I'll have a few more practice sessions and work up to a whole day.

I think long term I would only use it if I was told to. I actually feel my Looker 02 is secure enough without it.

    Thanks again for the advice.

I'm following this thread with interest. I have a tube that is longer than the units pictured, but once in you don't really know or feel how deep it is. So far no problems.

I have a very similar device, I've not worn it for periods of longer than a few hours at a time yet, we're trying to gradually increase the time to make sure my urethra stretches enough to accommodate it properly. I've found that when peeing, there is a lot of pressure and it feels slightly strange. I've not noticed any discomfort during normal wear though.
