Take a look at this new device, but more specifically the plastic lock/tag. Instead of a brass barrel lock as many of us use, this is a plastc version with integrated keyholder tag. Brilliant design. I suspect it only fits this particular cage right now but I would hope they'll start producing these lock/tags as standalone items that fit barrel lock cages sometime. Cool eh?

This is super common with 3d printed cages. This device is just the chinese kink3d clone, though they’ve put their own spin on it now to create basically an innie cage.
Anyways, back to the lock. kink3d has “airlock” and cherry keepers have a plastic barrel you can put in the lock column that allow you to use a plastic lock like this. Great for if you’re going through a metal detector.
I suspect other plastic devices have a similar offering, if the cage isn’t metal there’s a big advantage to being able to completely get rid of all metal on the device by removing the actual lock barrel.

I tried one in my metal cage last night, and it could be pulled straight out. I haven't tried it in the Cobra it is meant for.

So does it have a key or how do you get it in and out of the opening in the ring?

There’s no key, the idea is that you use the plastic cylinder to fill the space where the barrel lock goes, then you use a one time numbered tag to “seal” it. So your KH knows what number that tag is, it better be the same number next time they see it. Need to cut the plastic tag to open it.

Here’s a twitter link to someone showing how the whole thing goes together:

I've just bought air locks for the Mamba 3D Negative as I intend to use this when flying. The CD itself is very comfortable. I'm wearing it with the standard brass lock atm. Hygiene is easier than with my normal small steel CD. I may stick with the plastic CD full time, but I'm a bit concerned about how robust it will be, particularly the attachment of the cage pins into the ring.
