    Hi everyone,

I am about to switch my chaste boyfriend from a plastic cage to an Y2-52 (before switching to the shorter version hopefully soon). I cannot add an Amazon link here, but please look for "Yocitoy Y2-52".

As you can see, it's made of Steel, we have received it already but not started using it for extended times because I'm not sure about whether it's risky or not to let him have shower with this lock on.

I'm kind of scared that it would rust with water, remain locked with water and soap entering the lock barrel, especially considering it's chinese-made... So I keep removing it everytime, but it's not convenient. However it's still our best option for safety right now.

This is why I'm asking you guys here for any advice, either on my worries (do I really have to worry or is it OK ?) or on what to do to avoid this issue. I've thought about protective plastic, tied with an elastic for the shower so he can still clean the little bird properly but keep the lock dry.

Thank you for your time, please let me know if you have any questions as english isn't my native language, some things might be unclear. :) I can upload some other pics when I'm on my computer if needed, to see the lock better, however I'm not sure if that's allowed. Let me know if that's needed. Thanks a lot !

It says it is a stainless steel at least that is what I have read when I made a quick search.
There should be no problem showering in it in my opinion.

    Thanks for your reply :)

Yep, the cage itself doesn't seem to be an issue, however the lock seems made of a yellow alloy and I can't find any info on that. Anyone knows more about that kind of lock that is either in "lock" position or in "unlock" but remaining on the key ?

I see. Well the locking part looks kinda like brass. Which means it will not rust however brass can corrode. This should be close to how a brass padlock would react in my opinion.
Which is like getting greenish tint that can be cleaned off. Basically the zinc is dissolving. If the lock part is dried well it should last for quite a long time.
This is only my opinion though.

If it is made of stainless steel it will not rust and is perfectly safe to wear in the shower. Same goes for the lock, which is brass, and won't rust either. In fact, the shower is the best place to ensure that the device is properly clean.

There are some (cheap) chastity devices that are made of chromium plated steel or brass. The issue here is that the plating can peel off. You should avoid any devices that are not made of stainless steel.

Alright guys, thanks a lot for your advices, I guess we'll try getting it wet but not "in position" for a few days to see how it reacts and then, back in place!

Have a great day, looking forward to read more from you! :)

My device uses the same lock, I shower daily and wash myself and the cage using soap with no issues. The colour of the lock is dull now but it still unlocks fine when I am allowed out for Saturday night. It will be fine.

You can rest assured that it is perfectly safe to wear a stainless steel chastity device with a brass lock in a shower and no harm will come to the device or the wearer. Hundreds if not thousands of us do it each day.

If it doesn't jemima, the cage can always stay on.

If it is stainless then there should be no problems, virtually every common grade of stainless 304/304l/316/316L are resistance to water, weak acids and alkalis in industrial quantities. Salpherous environments such as living on a sea going vessel WILL eventually cause damage to 304. So household things so as vinegar, bleach, chlorine, soaps are all fine. Knew that working in the steel industry would eventually be useful for something. As others have stated, the thing to worry about is the brass insert, put a squirt of a penetrating lubricant or silicon lubricant in the moving parts after drying and all should be well and enjoy many years of locked up bliss.

it's always a good idea to test the lock portion of the device at least once a week. it keeps the lock in good working order. moving parts need to be moved. However when it comes to the thing locked away, that is entirely at your discretion ;)

Thanks for all the replies, I'll be cautious with the lock because who knows... Brass, chinese quality...

At least until we move on to a higher standard cage (for an anniversary, for example haha)

    Happy locking to y'all !

Brass locks from my personal experience from not drying them properly is that they are harder to lock pick, and are perhaps a harder to close and insert the key, but they are still functional. The rust is only on a small thin layer and is insignificant for the tolerances of a tumbler.

I'm still healing from a PA so I'm on the honor system for right now. I do have a belt from rigid chastity on order right now witch incorporates my PA. Mrs. B has no idea yet.

Most locks have brass pins so won’t rust. I’ve been locked for weeks inbetween and never had an issue that some WD-40 can’t sort out

Brass pins yes, but the springs are likely to be steel - probably won't ever be an issue though.

Once a month or so, soak the lock in WD-40 (WD stands for water displacing), dry it well with paper towel, then reinstall. Could be done at shave time, takes about the same amount of time.
