I just purchased my first Looker, second hand, and have it all cleaned up and sterilized. Yesterday I was able to get it inserted and wore it for about an hour before removing it and cleaning up. All seems okay -- a little scary, but good.

So my question is to everyone with more experience than myself on this insertible: Knowing what you know now about this cage or something similar with in insertible urethra plug, what advice would you tell yourself when you first started using it?

Thanks in advance for your positive and constructive advice! IMG_20231008_152516.jpg

Take it slowly @soccerslave by extending he time each day. Quite quickly you won't know it's there.

Make sure ìt is clean before each use. Also nice a wet as it goes in and have a pee beforehand.

Do not use lubricant as it's not needed and can cause problems if the insert is in place longer term.

Thank you for the response. When you say clean, do you mean sterilized each time? I have it soaking in alcohol so that it should be sterile at the moment but I don't know if that's the absolute necessity each time? Also, I used sterile lubricant when I inserted it at the first time. Is that a bad product to use?

@soccerslave I wash mine In antiseptic handwash before use and then rinse well in clean water. I then keep it submerged in water until ready.

Using lube in the early days for short term is OK IMHO, but the urethra is accustomed to liquid and when passing water some will go down the outside, keeping everything fine. If the lube has dried it may get a bit sticky in there.

I have been told that using a pipe cleaner with tea tree oil is a good way to keep the insert clean internally.

As @maid_carrie says. I've always been good cleaning mine by leaving it in boiling water for a few minutes before use (let it cool down first!). Hygiene is everything. Once inserted it can be worn a while without removal, but people's "while" varies quite a bit. Mine is days, but after a week even if all feels fine I think it's good to remove and clean. But that is something to build towards. Enjoy!

I have several Locker 2 and in all cases experienced UTI when I didn’t clean and sterilize afterwards.
Wash your hands after toilet use before touching the urethral exit.
I got the inserts shortened to end in the gap between ring and cage.
I uses sterile lube which is packed in single use small packages.
I am allowed to remove the cage when I feel a burning sensation after a day or so, after installing it is no problem.
All these issues let me use a tether spout now and have now no problem the last two years.
And it is really escape proof. Even with an urethral insert 3/4 inch longer than the A-ring I was able to get out and in again.

I have a tether spout and I used to really try to stretch my urethra and get the retainer into place, which was the smallest they sold but I was never able to insert it. My bigger fear was being able to insert it and then not be able to get it out since I was having so much trouble getting it in. So I kind of scrapped the idea. I still own it but I'm a bit too much of a chicken, lol.

I can understand you very much,
I trained insertion and removal having the retainer secured with thick dental floss. So I could pull it out if pressing from outside should fail.
If it sits close to the meatus another option is using a so called spring hook to pull it out.
Did you measure the size of the inelastic ring?
My bigger problem were the sharp edges of the thread of the spout.
I smothed them and now everything works just fine.
And yes, I still use lube. Even during removal, everything slides out more smoothly.

I have a Looker 02 with fixed urethral insert. I have often worn it daily for about a week without special cleaning beyond a rinse in water and I have had no UTI issues. The urethral insert extends beyond the base ring. No issues so far.

Everything is going great. No pain or stinging, I can even insert without stretching first.

I wore it 14 hours today. All good. I felt a little itchiness toward the end of that time. Is that normal?

Depending on how your day was and if you had a lot of movement it could be an irritation.
If it is a kind of burning sensation it would be a sign for me to remove it.

I work a physical job so was moving around all day. That's probably it. Stopped once I removed it. I little itchy this morning but had already faded.

I'm guessing the more I wear it, the less it will irritate?

The moving was the reason for me to get the plug shortened so it stops between cage and A ring.
If you are careful and start slowly the tissue may adapt to it.
