These pictures are on the web somewhere already, but I'm putting them here because the subtitle of this post might be 'it must run in the family'... I have originals of these postcards. I found them about fifty years ago in the effects of an aged relative after her death. She must have bought them in Paris some time between 1910 and 1920. The Musee de Cluny is an extraordinary place housing, amongst other things, the tapestries of 'The Lady and the Unicorn' the symbolism of which I cannot begin to discuss. However, the artifacts pictured here were not on display and nor were these postcards. And my French wasn't up to the task of trying to find out whether they still had them.
