What's the fascination with hand wash only dishes? Wooden spoons, forks, spatulas, stainless steel drinking cups with convoluted straw set ups, cast iron pans and kids plastic compartmentalized lunch containers. I swear half the stuff I put into the dishwasher I have to take back out "that has to be hand washed!". Can you tell I've recently been put on kitchen duty??
Another item to add to the 'no dishwasher' list is sharp cutlery. The cutting edge being banged against other silverware will dull them. My son and 3 grandkids live with us. Once they move out my dishwasher will probably only see use after family gathering meals. Just for the wife and me I will hand wash everything.
Our Bosch dishwasher has a special silverware drawer that holds each piece individually. It's a nice feature.
My attitude was, bung it all in, if it doesn't survive, throw it away and don't get another. But now I don't have a dishwasher, but I do often have a (chastised) t-girl maid. So everything has to be immaculately clean ....
I use nylon laundry bags with all my satins and silks while choosing cold water and the ‘Delicate’ cycle.
