So I've struggled a bit with chafing and pinching with my base ring, but have finally found a cheap, safe and clean answer. I cut a length of neoprene tubing (the sort that you find around the drinking tube of a Camelbak. Placed it over the ring and it can be worn for extensive periods. Can be worn and cleaned in the bath/shower, just pad it down with a towel after. I no longer need lube!
