I'm just curious about this... For those who have cages with padlocks, has anyone ever tried to substitute their padlock with a narrow (and tight) zip tie? If so, how did it work out? Or did it?

Madam had me use the numbered tags many years ago, I wasn’t keen as it all owned to much play between cage and pin/ring as the tag is much thinner than the hasp of the padlock.

I often use cable ties designed for plants in the garden. As I self lock I find it is no less secure than a padlock. Also if I am out and about and get into an emergency situation it, I am more confident that I or someone else could get it off easily.

I never got on with those type of locks.

Was probably the quality of them but ones I bought from Amazon you could open without damaging them, then put them back on without leaving any evidence you took them off.

they are good but some you can push the locking bit all the way through squeeze the ends and unlock it without damage, they work better with a bit of superglue inside when you lock it. The metal wire type are better:

Another advantage of the burg locks is you can run a wire one through them as long as your device has a hole at the end of the lock, a lot do.

So, you can still cut them even though they’re metal?

Yeah but they are quite strong, you need some decent wire cutters or snips to get through them, can act as a good deterrent.

That sounds like too much trouble, TBH. Since I can find those plastic locks in a smaller pack for even cheaper, I think I’ll give those a try as a test run and if they work fine then I’ll stick with them. If they don’t work out then I’ll look into something more secure.

I have used plastic ones before that are numbered so I could self lock but the misses could still track.

It’s always good that your keyholder can track your lock to ensure you don’t cheat, but my idea of replacing the brass padlock for a plastic lock or zip-tie is simply because my CB6000S cage causes cage rattling with the padlock. It’s very noisy and is a total giveaway in public.

Now, I don’t wear the CB6000 very often, only a few times per month at most, but when I do at home, that rattling is rather distracting to me. I’ve managed to muffle it some by slipping a rubber band on the padlock but the band will break after a while, plus there’s still a muffled but noticeable rattle.

So, I’m not worried about “cheating” when self-locking. I’m just looking for something that won’t rattle and cause a distraction… Or worse, cause unwanted attention.

Yeah the padlock rattle annoys me too, but some people like it as a reminder.

Sounds like for what you need the right thickness zip ties would be best and cheapest

That’s what I was originally thinking… But seeing all the controversy around the plastic padlocks makes it an even safer bet.

The plastic ones are great so your keyholder can keep track but as you dont need that zip ties are much cheaper

I use a metal cable numbered security tag with mine. There’s no removal without cutting it off, the tags are numbered and also have a barcode that matches (so can be cross referenced if required) and the cable frays once cut so no easy way to cut and re-insert. It’s super secure (and probably overkill) but it adds to the whole experience knowing it’s not coming off without Mistress knowing.

Ok, so I just ordered a 100 pack of zip-ties from Amazon for 4 dollars after tax. Since I have Prime, I don’t pay for shipping. :+1:

If they don’t work then it’s no big deal… I won’t fret over 4 dollars.

Nice one, as long you checked the size of them to make sure they will fit the CB hole

I actually took a gamble by not checking the lock hole width, but that’s Ok with me… Besides, the main reason for the rattle is because the lock hole on the locking pin of the cage is wider than the padlock arm.

I know that makes it easy to put in, but I have no trouble putting the lock in my Vice cage which has a narrower lock hole and thus eliminating all rattling, while still able to get the lock on without any trouble.

I just read the order confirmation email and it said: “Our recommendations - these items are frequently bought together…” and it shows a single-hole paper punch.

    Me: “Uh… What?! o_O

For the zip-ties it'd be the CB6000S. That's not my everyday cage, but I like to wear it once in a while as a sex toy... The padlock rattling just ruins it for me.

I don't need zip-ties for my other cages, just that one.
