I am looking at getting JB. I like the idea of the security screws but has anyone ever had an issue with them stripping out or vibrating loose? Or can you loosen them with your fingers?

My new cage en route has a security screw, I've wondered this as well. Loctite seems abit extreme if you ever want out again. Maybe the blue not red. I was thinking Teflon tape but won't know till I try.

Both of my MM cages have the security screw option. I have never had the screw 'vibrate out.'

If the screw is tightened all the way, loosening it with your fingers would be very difficult. (I know. I've tried it.) Once the screw is loosened and part way out, then taking it the rest of the way out with your fingers is straightforward.

Teflon tape on the threads does the trick for me.

I have a security screw. Providing it is tightened but not over tightened it will not vibrate loose. The head is counter sunk so it is impossible to get it out with your fingers.

Indeed, use the correct one! (which I suppose will depend on the goal) :) These are more user friendly:

I used this one for a while because I didn't want the screw coming loose. Then gave up because it was a hassle, then switched to a padlock because my wife doesn't want to wait when it's time to play and the screw is a PIA, especially in the dark (though I was getting proud of how relatively fast I could remove it or put it back in).

I had the problem of the security screw coming loose until I had MM add the countersinking. I really think MM should make countersinking a standard feature. When I ordered my JB a few years back it wasn’t even listed as an option on the site. I learned about the option here on CM.
If the screw is countersunk there is really no pressure put on it, so it stays tight. It is also far more secure because you cannot just use pliers on the screw head to loosen; only the key works.

We do not recommend using lock tight. We did have someone have to go to the hospital to have it cut off.
When you receive the cage with security screws you will receive the two keys with two split rings. The split ring are to put on the top of the keys. You will then be able to tighten the screw better. Alos keep the threads clean with alcohol. If oils build up on the threads it may start loosening.

The counter sunk screw is a great way to go. The only downside is that you will no longer be able to us the lock in the same hole.
