Get to a certain age and they do them as part of regular health checks here

I think you should be unlocked for this as this is a more serious health check and comfort is paramount.
You can keep the device with you and relock after the procedure.

I'll qualify my statement. They don't do a colonoscopy in the UK without reason! Bowel cancer screening is done by taking a poo sample at home, putting it in the little pot that they supply, and posting it to the test centre. Any problems are notified and then a colonoscopy is done. Between screening you would be referred by your doctor if you presented with symptoms. If you are identified as "high risk" then regular a colonoscopy would be offered. :)

I had a routine colonoscopy check three years ago. I removed my PA without any bother, but my navel, pubic, gulches and Apadravya all closed and I couldn’t reinsert my pierced jewellery. After a bit of a painful effort, I was able to reinsert smaller gauge nipple rings.

Possibly speak to your piercing professional first, before removing.
Best wishes with your appointment hope all goes well.

Never had to unlock for medical related stuff and they never cared. However, my KH is always with me at all medical visits, so She is available to unlock if needed, unlike your situation. So i guess unlocking would be best. Or, you could bring the key with and let them decide (unless you don't have an emergency key)?

I just had a routine colonoscopy yesterday. I think the reason they ask you to remove jewelry is if there's a medical emergency. Imagine they run into a problem, and want to run you over for an MRI. Or, if they have difficulties making you conscious again and they decide to catherize you. Chances are microscopic, I admit, but I suspect that's why they ask. They're just trying to head off problems before they occur.

Ya, regarding piercings closing, I had that happen after surgery a year ago. I took out my PA and nipple piercings. I really didn't feel well for a few weeks, when I tried, I found the nipples (which I had had for decades) closed right up. I had to downsize the PA a few gauges, but was able to stretch it back out easily enough.

Maybe for piercing jewelry, giving how the holes can close up, they would let you wait until the very last minute to take them out, like when you're in the holding area just before they wheel you in, and then you can put them in as soon as you wake up. Do holes generally close up after just an hour?

Did not have my cage on for my colonoscopy. However, I left my lace panties on. I forgot to take them off. I got a few comments before I was put under. I had to take them off myself.

So an update. I have a tribal ring which requires a hex key to unlock. The nurse, Dr and anesthesiologist had no problems with me leaving it in. When I woke the attending nurse said everything went well, no issues with the piercing. I was drowsy and asked if she saw it, she smiled and said yes!

Am a little further south. I believe that people with a higher risk due to family circumstances get invited for the "full works"!

My Dr. was a guy. The nurse and Anesthesiologist were women. The Dr. whistled at me and the nurse laughed. The nurse also said I bet you left them on, on purpose (I really didn't). I think my wife was more embarrassed then me when she found out I forgot to take them off. In the recovery room the nurse made a point of handing my panties to her. She also made some "tampon" comment as she was leaving, but we could not make out what she said.
