If properly fitted, metal cages are generally considered to be more comfortable and hygienic for long term wear of course your individual mileage may vary.

As I read in a post here earlier today, as long as you have access to the proper tools and are not worried about destroying the cage in the process, even a metal cage welded or riveted shut can be re-opened,

So if "ending up trapped" is the fear that is stopping you, just remember that you would only need to be "trapped" long enough to get over the embarrassment of asking for help.

Whatever you choose, please set up a regular cleaning schedule with Sir.

If you like, You can make a ritual of it. Have Sir restrain you, remove your cage, clean you, ...and then lock you back up without allowing you any access to touch yourself.

Metal for long term is the way to go. If you're concerned about being locked in permanently any decent locksmith would pick one locks in less time than it would
Take for you to pick them out of the phone book all kidding aside if you didn't want to go that route a time lock safe could also be a safe route. Something Sir could lock for say a week and then relock each week

Thanks for the input everyone. Alana, I really like the ritual you suggested!! Unfortunately, Sir works long, crazy hours, so I don't know if that would work for us, but will definitely propose it!!

I'm also going to propose that he leave a spare key with me in a sealed envelop and that, once a week, I unlock to clean the cage, me and do my required shaving, then re-lock and seal the key in another envelop. The key would always be sealed when he comes and I would promise not to touch myself for any other purpose, except hygiene.

I forgot, who would you ask to cut a metal one off?

Take a hacksaw to the lock or a drill. Anyone can do it. The trick is doing it n your KH not knowing. Once you find a comfortable cage (yes metal) then really its not an issue of NOT having the key but just WHEN so you can shave. If you do.

I wasn't trying to figure out a way to get out of it without Sir knowing. Just in case something happened to him...GOD FORBID....

Got my first cage today. I know it's too long, but I just bought a cheap one to get a feel for wearing it at work and while sleeping...
