I self locked on 9/18 to curb my masturbation. Initially I kept my key with me more out of uncertainty of what to expect wearing a cage. It didn’t take long for me to leave it at home in the draw. I didn’t have a problem with unlocking it so taking added precautions wasn’t needed. However, some things you can consider are freezing key in block of ice or getting an online key holder.

 

Don't keep your key with you if possible. Leaving it at work or in the glove box of a car both work really well.

 

If not to masturbate, why do you want to be unlocked? Is it a comfort issue? Something else?

 

I use a online card service with the combination to the lock with the device key. You can delay sending the card with combination as long as you want. You must have be able to receive email notification that the card has arrived.

 

find ways of making it difficult to get the key. Freeze it, that sort of thing.

 

Mail the key to yourself

 

There is a cookie jar with a 10 day lock on Amazon. Leave the key at work over the weekend. Give the key to a friend and tell them to not give it back for a set amount of time.

 

Put the keys in a ice tray and freeze them

 

Or suspended in a 1 gallon milk jug

 

I used to self lock under the direction of an online Mistress. I used to leave my keys in my desk at work over weekends or mail them back to myself by second class mail. If you time it right you can find your keys totally inaccessible for several days in a row. With a bit of discipline you can just remain the keys as soon as they come back to you.

If there was ever an emergency I knew I had a decent hacksaw but I obviously didn’t want to use this unless in extremis.

Could get a Bluetooth lock and app on your phone or combination lock and forget the code and have a few days working it out.
