My wife and I have been having some issues in our marriage ever since the kids came along. Kinda normal, kinda not. Her Lack of intimacy, and romance was really hurting me. So I would withdraw and make matters worse. We did counseling but the counselor really didn't reach us in a helpful way. One thing we did take away was she didn't feel herself. She didn't like how she handled the children or how she interacted with some people. She aknowledged that she was avoiding intimacy with me but didn't really know why. The counselor recommended seeing a doctor for routine blood work. She has borderline hypothyroidism. Her hormones were borderline in a couple places as well. No smoking guns. She reiterated to the doctor how she felt and he recommended topical testosterone. It's recommended to use everyday but she would use it every other maybe every third. WOW! She is a whole new woman. Seeing her talk to her friends and our family is so different. Little things that would set her off are no big deal. She just gives off a whole new energy. I can't keep my eyes off her. She catches me looking at her and we both share smiles now. Her sex drive is off the charts. I find myself pulling closer and closer to her. I feel like we are falling in love again. It's so wonderful. As a by product it's really ramped up our chastity play. Opinions please. This treatment was doctor recommended. But, what side effects should I be watching for. I know there are many people on this site that use hormones and might be well versed. I don't want her to sacrifice her health or have adverse side effects. But if the treatment is safe then we are on cloud nine.
Women will get acne and growing hair in places they didn’t before if their T is too high. Keep an eye on thyroid levels and weight gain. Hypothyroidism can cause hormones to get out of whack, low sex drive, anxiety, weight gain. In addition to thyroid function, I’d want to follow up and test estrodiol along with free and bound testosterone. Topical T is well tolerated with few worries in low doses.
I'm glad it's working for you both. I was also sure, you'd get a nice, informed response to your question. Nice to have experienced members who don't mind sharing to call upon. Good luck going forward.
I’m surprised that they gave her T before seeing how the thyroxine effected her natural T. Thyroxine can make you feel better REALLY fast if you T4 is low.
She is being cautious with it. It's directed to apply everyday, but she has been using it conservatively. But her t4 must be low because it's a night and day difference.
Sounds like a viable solution for you. But have to admit, this application was not what i expected to read about under this heading. Very intriguing - thanks for sharing.
How many mg is she prescribed daily? If she wants to be cautious, I’d suggest that she take half the recommended dose but take daily. I’d want to retake blood tests at 30 days. Women have a healthy range of T just like men have a healthy range of E but optimal range for the individual can be on the high or low end of the range. If she takes a little too much, symptoms will be mild and reversible. Most likely symptom will be acne and oily skin and hair as well as higher sex drive.
Four weeks in and she actually told me this week she was having fun "punishing" me. This is all completely 180 from a year ago. Four weeks with no orgasm and she has only hinted at possible dates that I might get to have one...
Having been on hormone replacement therapy for over 10 years. Male, testosterone replacement. Clitoral enlargement and off the chart sex drive are two of the things my gym rat buddies have commented on. Watch for extreme facial hair and other male tendencies. Also pre cancerous situations. Otherwise have fun.
