I'm wondering if I will need a support belts of some kind to clip on my metal cage when I get it. What is your all's take on support belts?

I never saw the need for one. Everything I have used has "fit properly" and there was no need for it... If I needed it, I would have looked for another device.

The main reason I wear a support strap is for night time sleeping, I can tighten it to help contain the nocturnal erections.
Also I'm not allowed to remove my base ring and during PIV the wife uses my strap to prevent me from pulling out, it's just another level of control for her

When I wore ball trap devices I generally didn’t “need” the strap, but would use occasionally - mostly would say it depended on the weather and how the balls were loose or tight …I’d find the strap helped a lot to keep it from slipping and thus pulling on the boys. For reference I was in an MM Jailbird.

Underwear makes a difference too…I found that snug fitting pouch underwear supported best.

I have not experienced a need for such things
If you feel you might be doing something a little more physical than usual well fitting underwear can help
But I also find myself equally comfortable with no underwear.
I have worn much heavier cages in the past and even then felt no compelling need to provide some kind of support for the extra weight of the cage

A support belt adds security and relives the weight of the device. They can be made with stainless-steel cable or just line. I am locked in a steel Nub or a cap device, both are supported with belt.

i am about to get (or more likely make) a support belt for sleeping. My cage fits well but nighttime erections still pull it away from my body a bit. Goddess has me sleep naked when caged and when i try to get hard everything flops around which can be very painful. W/we like pain but not to the extent i can’t sleep at night and function the next day! Since it is only for nighttime use i was planning to go with leather.

It’s to each there own, I don’t use one, but I know others wouldn’t be without them.
