I am thinking of ordering a jailbird with security screw based on so many positive reviews. I have owned a few knockoff cages and a cherry keeper. What is the best way to measure base rings. Regarding knockoffs, I find the 45mm fits best and I didn’t order enough cherry keeper base rings to ever find a perfect fit. Any suggestions for the optimum base ring size measuring based on the mature metal sizing?
First, Congratulations! Taking the step to get a cage that is made specifically for you is a big step, regardless of which manufacturer you choose. I've owned, and worn, two cages from Mature Metal and I cannot say enough good things about them. My KH and I have decided that 24/7 wear is appropriate for our dynamic, and I've worn my current cage for just over four months. Prior to that, I wore my previous cage for a little over a year. My current cage, a Watchful Mistress, was custom-modified to accommodate my PA piercing. As to your question, I would strongly recommend using the sizing rings that you can get from Mature Metal. I would also recommend taking the advice provided with the rings, or on the website. Although MM can modify most things about your cage, getting the base ring sizing right is really important to comfort in long-term wear.
Thank you so much for the input. I have ordered the sizing ring set to try and get an exact measurement for the diameter. How “tight” or what is the best way to measure the are ring? Also, any feedback on the round vs oval shape?
The recommendation from Mature Metal is on the website. I don’t want to speak for them, but we have found that following the process they lay out gave us a perfect fit.
