This came up on my Fb feed today, a conference on Trans-States. http://trans-states.org/

This is any state that lies in a temporary structure, a crossing from one state to another, for scholars, practitioners and anyone else interested.

One of my interests is states of transcendence brought about by enduring pain, which is relatively short term.
A longer term form would be the state of heightened arousal brought about by long term chastity.

I thought it might interest some of you. I might consider going myself.
