Has anybody tried a real Holy Trainer ring with a knockoff tube, and if so did they work together? I got a knockoff V5 40 mm ring with nub tube. The ring ended up being too small so I’m going to purchase a real v5 kit with 45 mm ring and short tube. Eventually I want to go down to the nub size, so was wondering if I could use knockoff tube with real ring ?
Not tried, but I'd be sceptical. With a knock-off you don't know if it's been made as an exact copy or a close mimic. Main reason I haven't tried is my knock-off is a v4 but my real one is a v5 so definitely not compatible. But the ring on my knock-off seems thicker, perhaps if a cheaper plastic is used they have to make it thicker; if that is the case there may be differences also in how the ring and cage interlock.
